Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye Volume 2

More... much more than meets the eye!
This book contains three stories:· A hospital epidemic,· A hostage negotiation, and;· A group of killers hunting... Decepticonvicts! All three contain pathos, humour, very well crafted plots and all manner of comments and situations that will spark repercussions in future issues, as well as providing little revelations into stories & characters from previous episodes. It's because of this 'seeding' that the book is so compelling, a bit like Twin Peaks; in that every detail has a meaning. That may make it sound rather heavy going, but there is a lightness of touch throughout. Its reasoned, considered and at the same time both funny and fresh, with a quick pace!I haven't read a comic this good for years, my personal favourite being a title called 'Concrete'.The art and colouring are more than up to the task. In a scene chock full of very complex designs, each individual robot remains easily identifiable, and action scenes are well depicted, conveying size, weight and power (applied in punches, laser blasts, swordplay etc). This is well worth its asking price, there's so much to read (and particularly) re-read here. If you enjoy this you should definitely pick up the first volume, and consider picking up 'Last Stand of the Wreckers', a standalone piece that has... non-essential but increasingly interesting ties to the overall story of 'More Than Meets The Eye'.

Tensions in Deep Space.
Following the events of the first book More Than Meets the Eye Volume 2 picks up with Rodimus and the crew of the Lost Light continuing in their search for the legendary Knights of Cybertron. Three stories occur in this book.1. When a datalog shows something suspicious at a Autobot Medical facility Ratchet, Drift and Pipes head out to investigate to find First Aid amongst the few surviviors of a rust plague. As team members become effected it falls to Ratchet to find the culprit responsible and with First Aid's help heal the surviviors.2. Fortress Maximus joins the Ships crew but the torture he suffered at the hands of the Decepticon Overlord leave him mentally unstable. When he begins wounding crew members and takes the ships Psychiatrist Rung hostage he demands Rodimus take him to Cybertron to learn why it took three years to stage a rescue operation. Trouble Maximus has also take Whirl hostage and the mouthy Autobot nutcase aint taking any of it. With lives at stake Rodimus and Ultra Magnus prepare to possible kill a cormade whilst Rung tries to defuse the situation.3. Whilst the Lost Light continues its quest we are introduced to the dangerous Decepticon Justice Force. A band of Cons whom are tasked to track down those who have disobeyed or abandoned Megatron. Though their leader is believed dead they continue their job. When a small band of Cons are targetted its Decepticon vs Decepticon as Duty meets Survival, but why is their a Decepticon ship on the planet and why does it cargo include Grimlock?Once again IDW does a brilliant job with this book as we get a great maxture of action, drama, suspense and even comedy. Volume 2 is equally as brilliant as Volume 1 and amazingly can pack so many stories into it. Like Robots in the Disguise I recommend it for any Transformers fan.
