The black beads are lava rocks and the other beads are some type of stone. The ones on the bottom are metal spacers. This is my granddaughter’s response who got the kit. She loves it.

Great little kit with case that keeps everything safe and ready to use. Good variety of quality tools for all my jewelry making needs. I mostly do just bracelets and rings, and I've made good use of many of the tools. Great for beginners and good gift for anyone getting started.
