Is it made of solid gold? Or alloyed gold? Trying to understand the $200 price for a sheet of plastic with two bits or metal tuning through.

The description doesn’t say what the wire is made off, but I suspect it is copper and not just two strands of copper but multiple very thin strands laid side-by-side. We bought ours nearly five years ago. I think we paid $104 and I thought that was pretty expensive for an extension cord, but we needed it. I am surprised at how much it has gone up in price. We are very satisfied with its performance thus far.

The plug in the picture looks like a us plug, why are people saying it doesn't fit us plugs?

The problem is at the socket end -- this socket has two equally-sized slots. Look at the plug on the device you're planning to plug into this extension; if it has a polarized plug (one blade larger than the other), it will not plug into this extension cord. This is a safety issue and no company is likely to sell an adapter to bypasses this. The only way to make this work with a polarized plug is to do some modifications either to the device you're plugging in or to this extension cord.

What is the total length from end to end (the flat part is 9.84 feet). Can it be obtained in a total length of 11 or 12 feet? My rug is 10.5 ft.
