Q: How do i know which one wil fit my hoist i dont know how much tons is it

The capacity of his long ram jack is 3 ton(6000lbs), if the capacity of your engine hoist is 1ton(2000lbs), this long ram can fit it.

Q: One reviewer mentioned poor distance per pump stroke. Can anyone else comment on this? Does distance increase as load is reduced?

Pretty much a 1/4 inch per pump. It is a little slow...but i dont mind, gives me more time to pay attention to what im moving..

Q: Can these jacks be mounted with the pump up at the top and ram extending down ie upside down?

Yes, you'll simply need to take the unit apart and extend a hose to the the other end of the jack. Then put it back together.
