Bought this bike for my 3.5 year old who is almost 42” tall. He outgrew his 12” balance bike and I was looking for a big boy bike for him. I had made up my mind on a popular brand “woom” bike but it was out of stock. One fine day I happened to stumble upon this bike while browsing through Amazon. It was lightweight as the popular woom bike and so I decided to take buy it. Bike is great. Lightweight. Nice color. Shipping was good. Assembly took a good hour. Quality of bike parts is good. We did ran into an assembly hiccup. The front wheel and the brakes wouldn’t align. This did give us a little frustration. But finally we were able to solve it. As you can see in the pictures, we haven’t put on the pedals yet because my son isn’t comfortable with it for now and we will put it on later. Right now he is super happy with his bike and with the seat at the very lowest position, he can touch his feet on the ground. He’s been riding it like a balance bike and has gotten very comfortable riding/handling the bike. Soon he’ll be ready for pedals. Overall it’s an excellent bike and I am happy with it. Happy Son = Happy Mom !

We're not a die-hard biking family - we all ride for fun, but at leisurely paces. No mountain biking/road race fanatics here. So I approached the idea of spending over $200 (heck, over $100) on a 16" bike with a whole lot of skepticism...until I borrowed a lightweight, freewheel 12" bike from a friend (who is a mountain biking fanatic) and my 3 year old daughter was riding it completely on her own three 10-minute sessions later. This 16" bike is a great balance of nice hardware and reasonable cost for what you get (the rear freewheel with handbrakes, the frame light enough for a preschooler to pick up). My daughter is now three and a half, and is just now big enough to ride this. She's having a great time with it and likely will for a couple of years. Worth it, and I expect to be able to hand this down once she outgrows it. Assembly was straightforward, although the instructions are pretty thin. I did have to adjust the front brake to allow the wheel to spin freely. No instructions for assembly of the plastic belt (chain) guard, but I figured it out. Update: We've gone on several rides on this now, and her comfort with the bike keeps growing. She can both lift it over a curb and ride it off a curb unassisted, and she's now fast enough that I have to run to keep up with her (plus? Minus? YOU DECIDE!). She's eager to ride her "silver bike" and hops back on after the occasional fall. Great bike. 2nd update: We lost one of the nuts and bolts from the front wheel on a ride. Belsize customer service was excellent - they responded promptly, replaced the missing parts for the cost of shipping, and were all around very easy to deal with.

This is a quality bike, well made. Assembly was simple- I did have to adjust the breaks and a couple of the bolts on the front tires were a bit tight but if you know how to use tools you'll be just fine. I took a chance and bought 3 of these bikes and Im so glad I did. We've tried several style bikes from commercial with training wheels to balance bikes and now these. The proof is in- these have changed the way we bike. I feel safer with my 3, 4 and 7 year old bc they can safely maneuver their own bikes. I'm not lugging cumbersome bikes or having to navigate multiple children up inclines- they can!! My 4 year old transitioned from a balance bike to this in 30 mins. I started her with the pedals off to allow her the time to get used to the bike then added the pedals, told her how to get started, and she was off riding with her big brother. It's extremely light so she can maneuver it easily. The belt is silent and so extremely smooth. The breaks are very responsive. Break pulls are a little tough for little hands but they're brand new, it's expected. Aligning the breaks was very simple upon assembly. Loosen a few bolts realign and tighten back up. The tires look great and feel great. They are a minimal tread not super ideal for mud or slippery terrain. But normal neighborhood or light trails works just fine. This paint is beautiful- we got pink and blue bikes- they have sparkly flec that really stands out. This bike does not come with all the bells and whistles but it is a high quality ride. It comes with a plastic gaurd for the belt drive but they are a thin flimsy plastic. You'll need a kickstand if you aren't okay with proping it up and possibly a stem riser to adjust the handlebars up. The handlebar position does put the ride in a bit of a hunched position. Every child is different but mine had absolutely no problems learning to ride with them the way they are. We'll be getting risers though as kids grow. The seats and handle bars have to be adjusted using tools- no quick adjustments. I've shopped for bikes and compared to well known brands like woom etc and this has its place amongst top names. Rascal rides has a review on youtube for these and they also have their own website as well. The difference between these bikes and a commercially produced "walmart" style bike is vastly different. The weight of the bike alone makes all the difference. Overall I'm thrilled with this purchase and would recommend this bike to those in the fence. Update** 6 months in* Still LOVE these bikes and my kids do too. The confidence and skill they have gained on these bikes was worth every penny. They're used almost daily and are holding up perfectly.

This is a good starter bike for kids. The very light weight and smaller size allowed my 4-year old grandchild to ride it immediately (after training on a 12" balance bike in the preceding year). Some 16" bikes for kids weigh twice as much or more (literally). In 5 years of riding, it's in great shape but pedals and handgrips wore out and were replaced after a few years. The forward-leaning riding position is a big advantage, as well as the belt drive.

This well made bicycle is light weight and an easy bicycle for youngsters to learn on. Well suited for ages 4-6 depending on child’s size. My six year old daughter learned how to independently pedal around after only three afternoons of using it without pedals to get used to balancing and using the breaks. The belt drive is way better than a traditional metal chain as it requires no oil and wont get your child dirty. This bicycle is beautiful, sturdy, light weight, and was sent well package. Highly recommended
