There are the only way the cats will eat pills, and my cat recently has to take 3 pills a day. He sees them as a treat and as a cat owner you know they meow / scream for treats, and its secretly amuses me since its a pill hidden within. From time to time if you don't seal it up just right, the pill falls out while he chews it, but thats rare. I usually specifically smash it all together

The vet describes my cat as "spicy", so twice a day pills for life (hyperthyroidism) could have been a real nightmare. Luckily my cat is food-motivated. Every once in a while she manages to spit the pill out, but 99% of the time it works like a charm. I can split the pocket in half for the little pills, and now I'm giving her giant antibiotic "horse" pills and the full pocket covers those. I tried pilling without a pocket once and we're both still scarred (me literally). These are lifesavers.

This product arrived with an expiration date only several months in the future. I intended to stock up so I would have them for the upcoming year, but am afraid to use them as the bags are filling with gas, apparently from the product already starting to go bad. Only buy this product if you plan to use it within a month or two of receipt.

My cat was diagnosed with kidney disease this summer and requires sub Q fluids and a few medications per day. He had lost his appetite and wouldn't even eat treats. As a nurse, I found it easy to administer the fluids but giving him oral mediations was a battle. I couldn't get him to swallow them and he would froth at the mouth and hide under the bed, howling as though I were disemboweling him. I felt so guilty. And he was becoming afraid of me. Everyone told me to try Greenies Pill Pockets but I didn't because he had lost interest in treats, and I was afraid to associate the bad-tasting pills he had to take (he now just has to take two that don't seem to taste as bad) with treats because I was desperate to get him to eat anything. A friend sent me home with a few of these and he loved the taste of them. He now gets excited when i open the fridge to get his capsules out because he loves the Pill Pockets so much. it's eliminated a huge source of stress in both our lives. I'm happy to say he's eating well again and putting on a bit of the weight he lost. He likes these even better than the regular Feline Greenies.

If you want to try getting your cat to eat its pill from a pile of dry and apparently unappetizing crumbs, then the new pill pockets formula is what you're looking for. I have 3 cats, 17, 17 & 18, and taking pills is a fact of life here. But it was never a problem because pill pockets made it TREAT time. Greenies has changed the formula though. I guess some exec decided that the pills LOOKED better with a firm pocket area showing and no "deformed" pills out of the bag. That moron has apparently not tried USING their product. Pill Pockets are now dry. They crumble away when trying to close them around a pill. And even the crumbles aren't appetizing to ANY of my cats. I used to buy a six pack of these every other month. Now I have to figure out how to make my own. FOLLOW-UP April 28, 2014: I spoke with a Greenies representative today and fortunately, they have NOT changed the formula. They had several "bad batches." Apparently pill pockets with use by dates of August, September, and October 2014 are effected (I'm not clear if ALL PP with those dates are effected, but mine have a Sept use by date). Product can be returned/replaced or you can also contact Greenies and they have a process for receiving a replacement voucher. As a result, I have changed this from a one-star to a four star review for now and edited the title to reflect that there were some problem batches instead of a change in their "recipe." (thank goodness!!!)

We ordered this flavor three times and salmon once (last time). Every time the reclosable zipper breaks after one or two openings of the bag, and from that point one we had to use a plastic clamp to keep the bag closed, or simply move them in a separate container. We could obviously live with that. The main problem however is that the last two orders (either flavor) the pockets were quite dry as soon as we opened the bag. This makes them quite difficult to "seal" them with the pill inside and even when we do that, most of the times they end up breaking in pieces in the cat's mouth and he is able to "avoid" swallowing the pill. I don't have time to go into detail of how creative we have to get to make some use of the pockets, but the bottom line it ends up not saving us much time compared to mixing them in real food. If we manage to feed them to the cat when he is really hungry, it works easier because he ends up swallowing them whole almost, but otherwise it's quite hit and miss. The orders are significantly cheaper from Amazon than from pet store, but it is so much trouble to make use of the pockets that we will not order anymore.

With 5 older cats, there's always someone who needs medication. There is no way I can "pill" a cat by myself. My vet may intimidate the cats, but as for me, they just run under the bed when they see me coming! Enter Pill Pockets, the greatest thing since, well, you know. Hide the pill inside, put it in front of the cat (or dog, if using dog version) and watch the pet devour it. Sometimes they even look around for more! I don't care to taste it myself, but judging from the reaction of my cats, these must really be good! If I have a small pill, or half a pill, I use half a pocket to save money. One cat in the bunch won't eat anything without liver powder on it, (Feline Instincts.com), so I roll his pill pocket in the liver powder. He gobbles it down. What a time saver compared to crushing a pill in their food, or chasing them all over the house to try to give them a pill. This will be the best purchase you will ever make for your pets!

These r a life saver for my sick cat. She needs pills daily. I actually just take half of the pill pocket, roll the pill or half of pill until I formed a tiny ball. I then dunk it in a container of grated parm and she eats it in two seconds. The trick is to roll it in something the cat likes. Flakes of freeze dried treats or whatever. I've been doing this for a year.. She knows the pills in their r nasty but she still eats it. Gotta get the ball size just right. Not to big and not to small. I use a whole one to put .06 ml of her nightly awful tasting liquid med in. I then fill it with some grated cheese, patch the top with a bit of a greenie piece, and then dunk it in the cheese. I am like a darn genius. The cat isn't bothered and my life is much easier. Petco charges $10.00 a bag in the store. U do the math.
