This is a really good product, I have used a few thermometers but this is not as difficult to use. I can use it in cold & hot liquids as well as cakes & puddings. The only bad side is the little plastic point protector however, I keep it in a box to keep it safe.

As a thermometer it is fine and seems fairly accurate, items from the fridge, 4 C - check, boiling water from the kettle, 98 C - check. But the main reason we bought it was to have a go at making toffee with our daughter. Put it in the melted sugar in the pan and it goes crazy, all the segments on the display show, then a blank screen, anything but a temperature rating.. Further testing with a pan of water has satisfied me that the magnetic field from the induction hob interferes with it making it useless for that purpose.

This item is a great basic cooking thermometer for an entry-level cook. I bought this item when attempting to make sugar syrup for a baking project. I had never used one before and found this incredibly easy to use, the display is easy to read and it has the function to switch between different measurements of temperature. However, one element of this item I wasn't as impressed with was the quality of the item. The item is easy to use but I would say isn't robust enough to be used for cooking. I found that the first couple of times of used this item, it had no protection from heat and the steam from the cooking would get into the display and fog it up through the cracks in the outer plastic casing of the item. It also found it has no physical heat protection. I had to rest it against the pan briefly to get another ingredient and found that the plastic had begun to melt. I know that, with heat on the plastic, it will melt but I thought it might be built to withstand more heat with it being a cooking thermometer. I think this shows the lower entry-level quality of this cooking accessory. Please if you are an avid cook and want a higher quality look elsewhere, but if you are an entry-level cook and don't wish to spend too much this will do the job but be careful as it can melt easily from the heat of the pan.

Very useful for checking the temperature of all food types. My care assistant used this for my chips also
