Form and function!
This is the second BlueAir air purifier I've purchased, and I absolutely love them. I use this one in my living/dining room, and I have it normally set on auto. It is whisper quiet when the air is clean, and still fairly quiet on the next level, only getting loud but still not unbearable on the highest setting when it is cleaning the air. I have a small kitchen so anytime we cook anything the smell inevitably fills the dining and living room. This air purifier then immediately kicks into high gear and within an hour cleans the air. Very efficient in that regard. It also does an excellent job of reducing dust, as much less dust accumulates on my furniture now. While I can say for a fact if that will help with allergy relief since fortunately I don't suffer from it, I assume less dust helps. While the air purifier is very light weight, it still feels very durable. It also looks great anywhere in the room, seamlessly blending into surrounding furniture unlike other air purifiers, and isn't too big or too small so can really fit anywhere. I'll definitely be purchasing more purifiers from this company for other rooms.

Quiet, brilliant design, energy smart, too!
First, a general rave about this brand: For all of my adult life, I've had air purifiers of all kinds due to seriously bad allergies. The BlueAir Blue series are the ONLY ones that I've had that are easy to clean. I had a smaller BlueAir Blue 411 for years in a small bedroom that was great! With other brands, the expensive pre-filters either had to be thrown away when they got dirty, or I had to resort to using a toothbrush to clean the plastic framework that they were a part of. I admit that because of these annoying issues, I replaced or cleaned them less often than I was supposed to. With the Blue series, you just slide off the fabric pre-filter (it's a lot like sliding off a sock), and then throw it in the washing machine. A clean pre-filter captures the larger stuff like animal hair and dust, extending the lifespan of the main filter. A clean one therefore saves you money in the long run because you won't have to replace the main filter as often. More than anything, an air purifier that has a dirty filter probably doesn't do anybody much good, regardless of the specifications on the box. Secondly, I bought this particular model because of its capacity, air quality indicator, and because it uses much less energy than other air purifiers (only 4-38 watts). I keep it running 24/7 in a large bedroom, so energy use and noise are important. When it's in Auto mode, it comes on only when its sensors detect particles in the air, and triggering the air quality indicator LED to subtly let you know. When it's in Night mode, all of the lights on the unit turn off, it's whisper quiet, and the fan is on Low. It also has an Everyday mode (It's equivalent to a Medium setting), and a Boost mode (a High setting). It does an impressive job of cleaning the air, as well. My sinuses really appreciate it!!!

Great air purifier for a large room
This is a great air purifier. It comes with an outer cover that sucks up a lot of the larger particles. You can wash it and they come out. This helps keep the inner filter active for longer. Normally the larger particles block an air filter quickly, reducing its lifespan. It is not completely silent, but if kept in one of the lower settings it is barely noticeable. It is rather noticeable in its fastest setting. I have two of these in large rooms and they do a great job.

Nice looking unit, quiet, love the auto mode - got rid of wildfire smoke from our house
I'm in California and this past summer was bad in terms of wildfires and it's impact on our air quality. It's the first time where the smoke affected us INSIDE our house. It was so bad where we were that it was a thick fog of smoke at ground level for a week. We're working from home with kids and a dog. And there were days when we could see the smoke inside the house, meaning we could see haze inside. My wife was coughing and sneezing. I ended up buying two of these units, one for each floor of our house during the day and used one in our bedroom during the night. The auto mode feature is pretty cool and the sensor is pretty sensitive. Basically, it autodetects the air quality and adjust the fan speed accordingly. It not only detected smoke but it detected odors like fried fish that we made one night, which is pretty cool So it's good to remove cooking odors as well. I did test it out on a smoky day and it did detect poor air quality and upped the fan. Within 30 minutes it cleared out the air. Yes, these purifiers DO make a notable difference. They are not a gimmick. On the lowest fan setting they are VERY quiet and pretty unnoticeable. We had one in our bedroom on auto mode and it was whisper quiet!!! On the higher speeds the noise is more noticeable but not that bad. It definitely can move alot of air and I trust the sq. ft. rating. It can probably handle larger to be honest. Lastly, I like the nice touch sensitive touch pad with indicator lights to adjust fan speed and turn the unit on. It's pretty cool and futuristic. The CON... as with many reviewers, I can confirm there is a weird chemical like odor from the purifier itself. I think it's from the filter. After awhile you don't notice it but it is there. It's not super strong but noticeable. It's also pretty expensive. I'm sure there are other cheaper and maybe better options. I bought these in a rush as availability of other purifiers at the time was very little. We are happy with them overall and will likely continue to use them. They are a nice small form factor and fit well with our decor.

Nice air cleaner
I had a Honeywell before, and it was so much noisier and bigger. This unit fits well in the room, and seems not to blow debris around as much as the other air cleaner I had. I do get a bit confused as sometimes the change filter iight flashes but goes off, so not sure and need to investigate further. I purchased a second one of these. The change filter light comes on frequently, but I just ignore it and make sure that the filter which is an outer covering isn’t terribly dirty. If it is, I take it off, wash it and then put a clean one on. It’s a nice machine. Very quiet at night easy to sleep with and I’m glad I have it.

Australian Shepherd House Approved!
This is an awesome air filter. It runs 24/7/365 in my house. I have 2 Australian Shepherds - need I say more? I have it on the lower setting during the day (mainly because it is quiet) but turn it up to high at night. It lives in my living room/kitchen. Because it has air intake on all 4 sides I will scoot it to the middle of the room at night to capture particles from all directions. Make sure to wash the outer filter cover once a week. I purchased extras so I could change it out without downtime. Buy the name brand extras - they fit best. It is always full of hair even with vacuuming every other day. The main filter is easy to change which I do at least every 6 months. They are not cheap but they work! This has lived up to my expectations. I have had it for 4 years.

Stopped turning on after 10 months
I’m coming back and updating my review much later. I’m actually incredibly pleased with how they handled this purifier stopping. They sent out a new one and had me box of the one that quit in the same box. I contacted them directly, not through Amazon. They covered shipping and everything. It was painless and their customer service was incredibly helpful the entire process. The new one has worked wonderfully and we love it. I purchased a different 211 about 5 years ago and loved it. It’s been running daily for the entire time. So when we needed a second one for my kids room due to allergies I naturally decided to get a second one for the ease of switching out prefilters etc. This worked great until it just stopped turning on. I have kept it clean, vacuumed off the dust from the top regularly, changed prefilters regularly and it just stopped. I’ve reached out to customer service to see if I can get it replaced because for the price of this unit it should *for sure* last longer than 10 months. I’m just glad it decided to bite the dust before the warranty was up and not days after like most things these days. Will up date when company offers a solution. Meanwhile my kid isn’t sleeping because of such severe congestion. Hoping to get a solution fast.

Misleading. Worse than non-auto. HEPASilent isn't HEPA.
Was happy with the older 211, which worked reasonably well. On low the filter moves almost no air - the setting is effectively useless. Auto uses a speed that seems to be even lower most of the time making it useless. Medium is low but less quiet than the lowest useful setting on the 211. High works well and is not quiet. The pre-filter is a coarse cloth wrapped around the unit and isn't as effective as most other pre-filters. The carbon depletes before the rest of the filter but cannot be changed independently. Having looked more carefully at the fine print this product is misleading. First of all it isn't HEPA. It makes a lot of 99.97% claims on the page with an * next to them. Searching for the * yields: *Tested on E.coli, Influenza A (H1N1), A.niger with minimum reduction of 99.9% in 60min I don't know how 99.9 is being used to claim 99.97. But they do say: "Are Blueair filters HEPA? No, Blueair filters are less dense than traditional HEPA filters, allowing our air purifiers to be quieter and more energy-efficient. Instead of HEPA filters, we use a combination of electrostatic and mechanical filtration that we call HEPASilent™ technology to achieve the same level of filtration efficiency - with less energy and noise." While never unambiguously claiming to meet much less to have been independently tested to a HEPA 99.97% filtration. Given the construction of the filter (no sealing between the paper filter and the plastic frame) there will be some air bypass thus making these claims suspect. I am sorry I bought a few of these and am in the process of replacing them with real HEPA filters.

Love this Air Purifier!
My husband really wanted this air purifier and I’m so glad we got it. Yes, it came with it’s own filter (plus we ordered extras to have on hand “just in case”). You can hear the fan on the 2nd and 3rd settings yet still quieter than our little blade fan. On level 1 it’s so quiet I had to check to see if it was on! Today due to local fires the smoke and air quality in our area was very bad, but when I walked into the house there was no trace of smoke smell even though the living room window was open. This filter does a great job

Great air purifier
This air purifier does a fantastic job! It noticeably improves air quality, runs quietly, and is easy to use. I’ve seen a real difference in how fresh the room feels. Highly recommend for anyone looking to breathe cleaner air!

Cleans up the air really fast
I bought it last year when the walls in my apartment building were painted with some stinky paint, and I started feeling nauseous and had a headache because of that toxic smell. This purifier helps to deal with such things and it does it quickly. It cleans up the air when I cook, it saves from the city smog and the consequences of forest fires. This one is not big, but it sucks the air in from all sides, so it's way more effective than rectangular filters, even if they cost more (I have something to compare it with). The filter is easy to clean, it's not noisy, and the light shows it's sensitivity as it reacts to the changes in the air very fast (if I use a hair spray, it goes red almost immediately, even if I'm 5 meters away from it).
