Quick dry, sands smooth and easy between coats, dries to a hard satin finish
I've used this poly for all sorts of applications including interior doors, trim work and furniture. It sprays well with an HVLP system, cleans up easy and dries fast.I typically use 4-5 coats and sand between each coat with 600 paper, tack rag and recoat. This poly also goes on really well with a 4 inch foam brush when I can't use my Fuji HVLP system. The fast drying time at room temperature is impressive and the finish quality is equally impressive. The one photo I added shows a piece of 5/4 x 8 inch wide curly oak trim that I sprayed this poly onto with my Fuji HVLP sprayer. 5/4 wood is a full inch thick. The trim went under a black powder coated stainless hand rail with glass plates between the metal posts. This was 3 coats - the finish and satin sheen are glass perfect. The other photo is a mid - century modern Lane side table that I repaired and refinished using this Varathane product. I used a Paasche HVLP sprayer and 4 coats. Did not modify the finish once dry.I saw some of the 1 star reviews that the cans had gotten damaged in shipping. That is accurate but it's not a knock against this polyurethane, it's a knock against how this poly is shipped. I recently ordered another gallon for oak doors I'm refinishing and it was listed as “undeliverable” so I bought it locally. It is a bit of gamble when you order this from Amazon and they are lucky they destroyed a gallon of water based poly and not oil based poly because cleaning up oil based poly would really suck.Maybe this sort of shipping "payback" will alter (for the better) how Amazon packs and ships these gallons. Hope that helps!

Excellent but quite pricey.

The best waterbased poly for furniture and wood tops
I’ve been using this product for several years now and love it.. It’s easy to use, non- yellowing and always consistent. Home Depot stopped carrying this product much to my dismay and I did not want to use the minwax version called polycrylic since I feel that it isn’t as good as this Varathane product.Yes, I had to about 30 dollars more for the two gallons that I purchased than what I would have had to pay a year ago at Depot, but when you need a particular product and you have no big box suppliers, well.. Amazon is your friend and you have to pay up.It took two days to receive from the time of order and there was no damage to the two one gallon cans.I was impressed that the seller taped the lids to the cans in a good manner to help ensure that nothing leaked.. Again, hated that I had to pay about 15 dollars more a gallon than I did a year ago at Home Depot.. but it’s the times that we live in here in 2022.

If you have painted floors use this product first before putting down a flooring polyurethane.
I confess, I was going to return this product because it was not rated for floors and that was what I was going to use it for.Instead I was going to use Bona Traffic HD. Best rated for floors.Turns out that Bona Traffic HD won’t work with painted floors. But it does adhere to other polyurethane. Enter this product. This product works great with Sherwin Williams porch and floor paint. I then applied the Bona Traffic HD polyurethane over this product and my painted floor feels like a gym floor. Could not be happier!

So easy to use and goes on smoothly
I use 3 to 4 coats of this satin-finish coating over Rustoleum chalk paint and I can clean the surface with a sponge and straight vinegar without any paint wearing off. The more coats you use, the slight yellow color becomes darker. This is actually what I wanted though. The Rustoleum Linen White Chalk Paint is too bright white. I wanted the white to match my off-white kitchen countertop and backsplash. See my photo of white cabinet.
