My daughters closet is 5 feet by 2 feet. Will this fit inside

Its about 3 feet wide and front to back about 2.5 feet

Does the lid stay open or does it have to be held open? I want to make sure it can’t slam down on little fingers.

The lid does not stay open. When you open the lid, it pops off. You have to set the lid on the floor when your child wants to play in the toy box. Spend your money on another toybox

Does the color match the blue Little Tikes cottage?

No, they are not the same color of blue.
