Solid, I run a restaurant and the waitstaff all use this. Very easy to fill, adjust and grind. It's perfect size, and very well built.

NOT JUST A PEPPER MILL
This is also the best salt mill, if you use the correct salt. I have only been able to find salt mills with nylon grinders which only last a few months at best. This mill has a grinder made of all steel, and it is adjustable. If you use sea salt, many have a high moisture content which gums up the works. I also don't like "wet" sea salt. I have had the grinder for a couple of years now and have been using THE SPICE LAB HIMALAYAN PINK CRYSTAL SALE NO. 27 COARSE GRAIN available here at Amazon; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004LKVRLG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 I have gone over two years using this salt and grinder without any problems. I do use a letter opener when needed to gently clean out the salt that sticks to the grinder where the salt is expelled. In humid weather, the salt will accumulate and become damp and fall on the food. Cleaning the bottom stops this from happening. I am going to order another kg (2.3 pounds) of THE SPICE LAB salt linked above, and hopefully it will be as dry as the first bag. TIP; Hold the metal stem in the center as you fill it, but LEAVE A 1/2" TO AN INCH of room at the top. Put the cap back on and turn the crank. If totally filled, it is almost impossible to turn. If you leave some room at the top, you can put the mill on its side and then turn the crank. Once loosened, it should work flawlessly until empty again.

It’s the best & can be carried in an apron pocket for cooking, it’s so lightweight. Very streamlined and so easy to use, for those of us who love cracked pepper!!
