Hole Saw 2.5"/63mm Metal Hole Saw Carbide Tipped Hole Cutter

I used this to install a USB port in my center console. The Rannb Carbide Hole Saw 23mm did great! Easily cut through the plastic trim plate without damaging anything (my car is almost 25 years old and did not have window tint until a few months ago.) My USB port looks like it came with the car. It's really nice. My stereo supports Car Play and Android Auto, so this is going to be pretty convenient. The blade took a while to cut through the plastic, and I still haven't figured out what the spring is for. I'm going to run wires for a couple of amplifiers, so I guess I'll see how it does with the firewall next.

So let's talk about holes. I haven't had much experience with hole saws in the past, so I was understandingly apprehensive when looking for something to bore a 90 mm hole through the exterior wall of my house to install a Mini Split air conditioner. The preconception with tools is typically the cheaper they are, the lower the quality. I felt like these saws were mid-range as far as price was concerned, but I worried a bit after reading other reviews. Even so, I gave it shot and figured the price was low enough to take the risk. I was blown away. Between this and the other two items, a diamond grit coring saw and a corresponding arbor adapter, I was able to, albeit slowly, cut through 1/4 inch plaster, 1/4 inch wood lath, 1/2 inch wood (with a nail on the cut line), and 1/4 inch exterior stucco with embedded wire reinforcement with no loss of grit or tooth. This saw also handles sheetrock without a problem. *Important note: other reviews had mentioned teeth breaking off too soon. I am happy to report that I didn't lose any teeth from this saw, even in spite of hitting a nail that was embedded in the wood on my saw line. If you take it slow, you should be fine.* I do want to make a few things clear: I do not recommend the grit saw for wood/sheetrock/ other soft materials due to the packing and heating issues it may cause with the grit. It did handle a little wood without much trouble and knocked out the plaster (which is more like concrete) and stucco with wire with relative ease. This carbide tipped saw is a better choice for soft materials. But, most importantly, you HAVE to take it slow. Do not force the saw to go faster than it is will to on its own and make sure you have a stable hold on the drill because it kicks HARD when it catches in the material, but it will get the job done. I'm looking forward to using these again in the future for my second Mini Split installation. Great product for the price. Drilled 630 holes in 4-1/2", 1/4" wall fence posts, using ten of these bits. So an average of 63holes per bit, with one bit lasting 105holes! Used a jig, no pilot bit. Drilled at different angles between 0 and 15 degrees. Mag drill at 850rpm, 61mm hole saw, anchor lube solution for cooling and moly paste inside the bit for reduced chance of the slug getting jammed. Three-sided shanks were breaking off, ended up turning pilot bit bushings to 5/8" diameter to use in chuck. Work piece clamping is most important to prevent bit damage.

I did not expect this to work, but it was cheap enough to try. I was very surprised how well it worked. I bolted two 1/2" thick pieces of mild steel together and the tool bored through both pieces will very little effort. I used my Grizzly G0731 mill with a Jacob's chuck installed and fed the table up slowly while applying a generous dose of cutting fluid (just dripped in, not flooded). I used a very slow rotational feed but fed the table up at a fairly good rate as I know that carbide wants a steady feed and load. When I finished, I cleaned the cutter and inspected it for damage - it held up well with no signs of damage. I've only used the cutter for this one job, but was impressed. I did not give it 5 stars because I have only used it once (for this job) and I did not install the pilot bit so I can't comment on the overall quality as a fully assembled unit.

Wow, I am impressed! I was skeptical at the price because you get what you pay for right? No siree. Not this. Used to drill thru 1.25" schedule 40 stainless for a turbo manifold with a hand drill and it did its job very well. I already had the pilot hole drilled so I'm not sure how well the bit is, but the hole saw did its job.

Bought this specifically for a single job requiring 5 holes in 14gauge steel. Cautious on reviews of pilot bit breaking, so drilled five 1/8” starter holes with a different bit then followed up with this hole saw. Took nice slow speed in first gear of a 20v Dewalt cordless drill motor. Very aggressive bites but cutting very well. Once the first tooth penetrates the 14g I was truly skeptical if the bit would make it through this final phase but it did. A drill press is highly recommended using this bit for cutting of this type, not a hand drill. Final verdict was in once the 5th hole was finished and I removed the plug from the bit, highly recommended and well worth the money in my personal experience. Your standard bimetal hole saws even by big box store name brands would not have lasted but maybe two holes before dulling and becoming useless. This still looks and works just like I received it.

Both Pilot Got broken in first attempt. Garbage , low quality. Not for metal
