Whilst the clippers are as described we were unaware that the plug was actually American and not UK and therefore have had to purchase an adaptor plug, so purchasers should be aware of this. The product itself is goo.

I did alot of research before purchasing clippers. Andis is touted as a reliable company to provide great grooming products and this product does not disappoint! The unit runs quietly, as far as clippers go. It's not silent, but my "skittish" cockapoo sat quietly while I clipped him. I was pleasantly surprised. I used the 10 blade that came with the unit, and tried out the comb attachments to see the results of different lengths. They all worked great. Blade did get warm, but never to the point that it was burning hot. I followed instruction and kept the blade clean and oiled ( Andis Cool Care Plus 15oz  is great!) and was able to complete the clip in a good timeframe. My dog was a bit "overgrown" but this unit clipped cleanly through without any issues. I felt this unit was a good "middle ground" unit..not too inexpensive as to be ineffectual and not too expensive. I think that for a home grooming tool, this one fits the bill. Awesome clippers!!If you have a long haired dog that needs to be groomed frequently this clipper kit is a no brainer.We have a 7 yr old Havanese name 'castaño' with a 'coat from hell' as one groomer described it.His coat covers the complete range from wavy on his head, course thick straight face, very thick curls (it would cord if we let it) around his neck & shoulder, & it gets even thicker as it goes down his back to his tail. His belly hair is long thin & silky and his legs / feet are very wavy.His hair grows so fast it needs to be cut every 6 - 8 weeks and at $80+ a cut it gets expensive. Several years ago I took a one day grooming course from a professional that covered the basics for the average pet owner. Since then I've been doing his grooming with scissors. A cut, bath & finish would take me about 6 hours so I would spread it over a few days because it was just as hard on me as the dog. Sore hands and back.After a little research, some help from the groomers at our local Petsmart and questions to the Andis online expert I choose the  Andis 21420 Pro-Animal Detachable Ceramic Blade Clipper Kit . Amazon price $61, local Petsmart $124 for the same kit.It took about 5 minutes to get the feel for the clippers. I started with a longer comb to practice, then switched to a shorter comb once I decided how long I wanted it. The clippers with the 1/2" comb went through all the different parts of his coat without any hesitation. Even the mats around his tail were no match for the clippers. Start to finish the cut took 1.5 hours and the ceramic blades were warm but never hot. The cut was smooth & even, far better than my scissor cuts. They are very smooth running and quiet, no more sore scissor hands. Castano would have gone to sleep but I kept having to reposition him.I bought the optional blue comb kit and found the blue combs much harder and better quality than the softer black plastic combs included in the kit.
