Q: Why do you use Magnesium oxide? It's the worst, least absorbable form of magnesium and the mostly likely to simply give you the runs. Also cheap.

Magnesium Oxide tastes good in water and on food. Some impure magnesium oxide is cheap as you suggest, but high purity pharmaceutical grade magnesium oxide is not. All magnesium forms (mineral or organic bound) at some level will cause loose stools. In terms of absorption, you are correct, it is less absorbable than other forms, but as pH goes down (stomach acids) and temperature goes up (in stomach), the solubility increases, and the magnesium taken in from magnesium oxide does reach the blood...just not as much as others.

Q: Where re the ingredients sourced? Also, why calvium carbonate? It doesnt dissolve and cakes the bottom

The ingredients for Boulder Salt are sourced by purity, not by locale. We only use products that are USP, pharmaceutical grade, or higher. You are correct on calcium carbonate, it is not as soluble as other forms of calcium. The first goal in creating a low sodium salt that acts like a multi-salt was that it had to taste good. Every other low sodium salt on the market does not taste good to most. When you put a more soluble form of calcium into the formula, it has a very negative impact on the taste. Formulating is a balancing act, and on this we had to balance a good tasting salt versus one that provides a non-cloudy solution in water. The "glacial" (cloudy) look of Boulder Salt in water is actually preferred by some in the endurance community.

Q: confused— low sodium? this has one percentage pt less than sea salt in 1/4 tsp. also, can the body absorb calcium in this form, like gravel pwdr. ty

2 grams of Boulder Salt has 40% less sodium than does 2grams of table salt (sodium chloride).

Q: Do you have any information about osmolarity when added to water?

It is totally adjustable based upon the concentration you make your drink to.
