So why I didn’t purchase this years ago for my ‘20 F-150 is beyond me. My wife’s ‘23 F-150 has had it from the get go and I liked it so much that it was a no brainer. Same brand, same parts, straight forward, no hassle, works great! Instructions were clear and I know when searching that there anre plenty of instructional videos available. I did this with a shattered ball socket and broken humerus on my non dominant arm (basically useless), install taking about 10-15 minutes. Comes with everything needed and the tool but I cheated as I had the star/allen head sockets with a wrench handy as I was not at the time. I can attest that it’s been wonderful not having to assist the tailgate from slamming down or risk injuring the arm in doing so. Probably one of the cheapest and satisfying upgrades you can do for your truck.

I instated this on my 2018 F150 XLT tailgate and it fits and works perfect. It comes with grease in the connections and pops on easy. Very great quality and build and improves your tailgate to a true soft drop.

Helps prevent the sudden drops when the kids decide they want to drop the tailgate / get into the truck bed. The only issue is that the 'tie down' hook on the side of the tailgate must be removed (T40) so that it will close.

I am not a handy person at all but w the instructions and a 2 min YouTube video installation took about 10 mins. Def buy for anyone looking for a softer fall for their tailgate. 5 Stars!!!

I gave this tailgate assist 4 stars because it works well and does exactly what it's supposed to do. The tailgate lowers in a controlled, smooth manner, and installation was straightforward. My only concern is the long-term durability of the strut. Over time, it will be exposed to heat, humidity, dust, and road grime that come with daily truck use, so it'll be interesting to see how well it holds up after a few years. That said, for the price, I think it's a solid product and a worthwhile upgrade. If the strut proves to be durable over the long run, I'd have no problem giving it 5 stars.

My tailgate don’t drop hard. Works as it should. Was easy to install. Little bulky but nice to show off. Makes the tailgate drop at a reasonable rate.

Bought this for my truck to keep the kids safe when they are opening and closing the tailgate every day. I put one on my truck and haven’t had to worry about the kids pinching or slamming their fingers since. If you have kids or if you have friends or family who treat your truck tailgate like it’s a game to slam open then this will solve the problem and stop them from beating on your truck!
