Would Highly Recommend
Pros: VERY reasonably priced, especially when compared to others on the market Looks very nice Feels very sturdy Template was spot on, installation instructions were a breeze, and fit was perfect Installed 2 of these dog doors, on 2 house doors, both being used by a 60 lb dog Cons: Don't have any yet, however as of today (2/21/17), the door has been in use for 24 hours. So, the reason I can't give this 5 stars: I can't vouch for the durability of the product, as it hasn't been exposed to the elements at all yet, and it's only been in use for 24 hours, so I can't say for sure how durable it is. Also, and this is very minor, one of the doors had a bent corner when we took it out of the packaging (not the plastic, but the metal glued to the plastic, which is a very nice aesthetic touch btw). This in no way is a major item at all, but wanted to mention it, in case the founder/owner of the company wanted to improve the packaging process at all; and the metal corner is very sharp. I have included 2 pics of the bent corner. Simple fix, just bent it back into place and a couple drops of crazy glue under the metal worked like a charm. Here's what I can say definitely: Looks great installed, feels very sturdy, 6 screws line up perfectly if you follow the instructions, love the magnetic plastic door, the locking insert fits like a dream as well, and our 12 year old dog is already using them with no problem. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone, just on the price alone. However, the price is only one of the many great factors about this product. Thank you for a quality product at an unbelievably great price. 2/17/18 - UPDATE: These doors have been in use over a year now. 2 dogs, one 65 pounds, and a very hyper 105 pound lab use these many times per day, and the 105 lb lab crashes through them constantly. They hold up great to wear and tear, however both of the plastic flaps did tear after a year (one door to outside, and one from house to garage). I live in CO, and the winters are tough, as well as the abuse put in by the big lab. Great thing is, replacement flaps are only $10 a piece (when available), and are simple to remove old, and install new. Literally will take 5 mins. I also got to personally speak to one of the founders of Barks Bar via email, and I can tell you, if they had a 10 star rating, I would give this product and this company 10 stars. It's very rare to find customer service like I found with them, and want to personally say thank you. Actually increasing my star rating from 4 to 5.

Great Dog Door at an Amazing Price
BELIEVE THE REVIEWS. Great dog door. Love that the template is cardboard so it was easy to trace. After cutting, the allowances were perfect. The door fit with just enough room to adjust it a bit. It was going on an exterior door with raised panels so we used weather stripping and caulk on the exterior to be sure it was sealed around and in the "insets" from the raised panels. (There are some YouTube videos on this if you are not sure what I am talking about.) Super easy to install (once the hole was cut in the door - not the doggie door's fault). The metal strip at the bottom keeps the flap down but is not so tough that our cat can't push it open. Sure does cut down on opening/closing the back door - especially with the 105 degree Texas heat. THAT is the best part. And, I can put my hand near it and I do not feel heat "rushing in" so I think it is pretty insulated (do understand that it is not 100% sealed each time the dogs go through as the sides sometimes leave a bit of a crack, but I just touch it with my foot and it adjusts itself so little air comes around the edges). Our cat goes in/out at night instead of waking us up and our Corgi's have no problem using it frequently. Short animals means we installed in as close to the bottom of the door as recommended - 3 inches. Our Yorkie Poo COULD get through it, but she is such a diva that she won't. So, I just lift the flap and she hops right though. (I am trained well). My mom has 2 dog doors and this seems much better than either one she has. I will update if, over time, it wears out; however, for now I am 1005 pleased with this product AND with the price I paid - especially considering the ones at the local big box stores are at least twice as much.

Great Buy !
I purchased the BarksBar Large Plastic Doggy Door for my 8 month old pup that weighs 20.1 pounds. I installed it in an exterior door of a mobile home. I am handy around the house but by no means a carpenter. This is my first pet door purchase and installation and this review is based on this product alone since I have nothing to compare it too. I removed the door as recommended and placed it on sawhorses. I then used a tape measure to find the horizontal center of the door. I taped the included template on the door where I wanted the doggy door and outlined it with a marker. I drilled 4 -1/8 inch pilot holes in the 4 corners of the marked area, then drilled them out with a 3/8 inch bit. I used a jig saw to cut out the remaining area I had marked, basically connecting the 4 drill holes. Installing the inside and outside parts of the doggy door is done using the 6 included metal screws. Next I reinstalled the exterior door and the job is complete. With me doing the install alone the entire process took around 45 minutes and I work slow. I gave this product 5 stars for the following reasons. - It was very reasonably priced - Even though its plastic it appears to be of good quality. - Good fit and finish. - Fast and Easy install. - Its exactly as Advertised. "Issy" has been using the door for about 5 days and she loves it. I would have to really be nitpicking to find something wrong with this Doggy door. Hope this info helps.

Good Product: Inexpensive but temporary
Have used these for years. They are a good solution for a pet door if you remember why you bought them: inexpensive, good reviews and good functionality. They are not permanent though. The flaps will wear out, the magnetic strips will come off, etc. I looked at virtually every alternative and each had some drawback or issue that people reported. These are relatively inexpensive and for the price of the $300-500 alternatives, I can replace these annually and have a new clean unit regularly. I have an energetic, 80 lb. boxer who fires himself through these doors like a cruise missile launch. When the security door is in place, and he is on the outside, he will go through the plastic panel as if it is not even there sending the panel flying. If you're truly worried about security, get a bigger dog - the door won't keep anything out. The installation process is pretty easy, assuming you have a saw that will cut your door. The parts fit together well and the process is relatively easy. Teaching your hound to go in and out will typically cost about a 1/4 of a pound of roast beef. They figure it out pretty quick. All in all, it is a good product for what you pay. I just look at it like a refrigerator filter - it will require replacement every 12-24 months. Update: 13 months later: replacing it again!

Best purchase I think I've ever made
I can't think of anything I don't personally use that has been as good a purchase as this door. When I got this I was hoping to be able to let my Great Dane mix (he's about 4" shorter than a full Dane) have access to my air conditioned mud room. Complete success! When it rained I had to lock him in a bathroom because he has crate anxiety. I had a dog house for him but he will not use it because he's afraid I'm going to shut him in. Since installing this door, and installation was quite simple and very straight forward, I've added a second pup, a pit/Catahoula cur mix. She loves it as well. They have complete freedom to come and go as they please and no more worrying about if they need to go outside for me. My dogs have freedom to go in and out without losing much A/C or heat. Also, if the dogs hear something outside they feel the need to bark at, they may bark once but then run outside and bark at it. So it's much more peaceful in the house. Installation was easy. Hardest part was cutting the hole in the door but with the right tools it's really easy too. A concern I had was other animals getting in. Personally I don't have that problem. My dogs keep my back yard free of pests and nothing gets into my back yard to get in. When I'm going somewhere and taking the dogs, I put the closing panel in and that takes care of that possible issue. *A couple of things to be aware of...My back door has a large window and because of the size of my big dog, I had to install this higher in the door. So putting the door blocker on when I'm away from home means I have to bend it a bit to get in to go in. It's flexible enough to do so and it's not that big of a problem. *I've had to replace the magnet that keeps the plastic flap shut once because I think one of my pups got bored and chewed it. But that was a quick fix and you can buy those replacements on the company's website. *Weather...where I live, we get some pretty hefty storms. I have had probably 6 storms in the couple years I've had this installed that were strong enough to open it. Know the direction storms normally blow in your area to decide if the door will be opened by wind. In the South, we have storms mostly from the south but in the winter the storms come from the north. The storms that affected it were from the north and you can hear it blowing just enough to push the flap off the magnet. So you hear it click repeatedly. It's annoying. Also water will blow in a little and you'll have to put a towel down. *Last issue is unavoidable. It gets dirty. Dogs pushing against it with their noses and it gets dirty. I don't know why I was surprised by this but I was. So it has to be cleaned on both sides.

American's tend to dismiss it because I'm sure at sometime in all of our lives we've purchased an item made of plastic only to h
When I researched putting in a dog door after I had a spine injury and wasn't able to jump up and let my dog out all the time, as I had always done previously, price and being well made for longevity were very important to me. Some were very "pricey" compared to other brands and a lot of the reasoning for that is because they were metal. Anytime we think of something being made out of a type of plastic, overwhelmingly, American's tend to dismiss it because I'm sure at sometime in all of our lives we've purchased an item made of plastic only to have it break quickly or simply not measure up to the product's claim of superior manufacturing at "a price everyone can afford." Thankfully that is not the case with BarksBar plastic dog doors. It was 1/3 of the price of most metal doors, but installing it was a breeze. The template sent with the order is perfectly measured. I had read so many different reviews of people unable to properly install it and had to call a professional to go to their house and install it. My brother in law and I had it measured, cut, installed and had the door secured to the hinges in a 30 minute period. And it is EXACTLY as described by BarksBar. It is solid!!! No draft coming through it. The magnet that secures the transparent flap when not being used, returns the flap to precisely where it is supposed to be, cutting off any unwanted draft due to it not squaring up repeatedly after each use. I am so glad I went with my gut feeling that this would be satisfactory.to me for my purpose in having one. But it didn't. I OVERWHELMINGLY EXCEEDED my expectations. One of the best purchases I have ever made. It truly is an 11 on a scale of 1-10!!!! Awesome product!!!

Good quality, easy install, great directions, good price
Installation: I am not a carpenter, but this was not overly difficult to install. Installed this on my moms backyard exterior door. The directions were amazingly helpful. Although this is the first dog door I have ever installed, I consider it to be a quality product. The base is telescoping so there shouldn’t be any problems adjusting to your particular door. The materials are plastic but feels like it will last. Cut the hole using the included instructions as a template (you will love this), drilled pilot holes with 3/8 in bit; jigsawed out the rectangle, perfect fit. Use: She has 2 dogs and a grand-dog. Her “puppy” is a real destructive little idiot and he has learned to use this door (took about a week for them to fully adjust). It has really cut down on utility usage and hassle for her having to make so many trips to let them in and out. The door flap itself is a thicker rubbery plastic and a magnet on the bottom to keep the door from blowing in and out when not in use. The inside has a locking mechanism to prevent unwanted guest whenever the dogs come in for the night. I would buy this again everyday, especially for the 30ish dollars.

Good investment
Best dog door ,large enough for 55 lbs Belgian Malaise and cat regulator size. Actually cat was the first one to use them , it took my dog 24 hrs with plenty treats to convince her to go through. Door works perfectly past 5 yrs with no problem, Plastic sturdy flap with magnetic closure perfectly worked with South constant Sun exposure ,rain , occasional freeze .After 5 yrs need replacement due to loosing shape to seal well the door .

Easy installation !!
I prefer this door to others, this one goes together without baffles, tape etc, just connect the 2 pieces with METAL screws not those dumb plastic ones and voila ! you are done ! Magnet at the bottom of the door works really well, and with the clear door flap we don't have 'head-on' collisions anymore ! However the previous door required a larger hole but had the same size flap, be aware when measuring. Best door yet !
