Well-written, good plot, well-defined characters...
My first book by the author and I was impressed. I only had a few qualms, first, who the heck is on the cover?! These women do not look anything like the women described and that was a bit annoying. These are models on the cover obviously because it is a lesbian story (dumb). The title and cover suggest something steamy and erotic, but it's not that at all, and that is not a bad thing. It's more of a drama and romance. Trust me, the romance takes a while and again, that is okay, given the plot, personality of characters and circumstances. My second issue was that we had no idea what Maggie looked like until almost halfway through the story! All we knew was that she was shorter than Alex (the butch/soft butch) . Alex was described almost constantly from beginning to end, I found this just weird. Made it seem like the author was favoring her soft butch character more, kinda reminds me of Radclyffe who does this quite a bit.I liked the characters, they were fleshed out and could stand alone, they were honest, and funny when needed. You could see how they would fall in love and when it came down to expressing how they feel about one another they did it. They had a conversation like sensible people do, granted it took a little while, because they were both stubborn as hell at times, but they got there. Definitely a page turner, I could not put it down, I brought it this afternoon and finished it the same day. Worth the 4 bucks and a nice little escape. The epilogue was sweet and the last paragraph melts your heart if you remember the story Maggie tells Alex about ice, and how it played a role to her survival, and why that little endearment at the end was important to Maggie's father. Read it and find out!

Excellent first time book by the author
Caveat: I do not give out five star ratings unless the book is a life changer. Now, having said that, ''Ice'' is an excellent first effort by a new author - especially in the '' Lesbian Romance'' genre. Most books in this genre tend to be self-published, and it shows with grammatical errors, spelling errors, errors in quotation and punctuation, you name it. For me, no matter how good the story might be, errors in simple English like this are jarring and throw me out of the story. It has gotten to the point where I am compelled to send Amazon an error report every time I hit one of these errors. I am very pleased to say that ''Ice'' did NOT have a single error that I noticed! Kudos to the author, and to her editor and proofreader (if she had one). I wish all books I read were like this one in this regard. Now, to the story. Ms. Gardner has come up with a quite interesting twist on the usual ''enemies to lovers'' trope. I got sucked into the two MC's straight away. By the end, I was totally enamored with them both, and wanted more. I was a tad disappointed with the ending, as I wasn't happy with the point where the last chapter of the main story ended (I REALLY wanted more), but the epilogue was interesting, and touching. Other than these minor gripes, I loved the book.Personal observations: I felt the book was a tad short on pages (read it in just a few hours after dinner tonight - remember me saying I wanted more?). Loved the cover image. Characters were written how people actually talk to each other (refreshing). Sex scenes were... Well written, not overly graphic (just enough), and appropriate to the story.I can't wait to read more from Ms. Gardner. Keep it up!BTW: I am a Libertarian-leaning, daily pistol-carrying, voracious reader of an Irish-American white male. I read probably ten times more Lesbian romance than straight romance books (among MANY other genres). I wish there was more good Lesbian romances available out there, and especially in Kindle Unlimited. More authors need to make their work available in KU -- look what KU did for, say, Michael Anderle, for example. Sorry, but I'm not going to drop $5 or $10 on a barely 250 page ebook that I haven't read yet. Not with books like ''Ice'' out there. Sorry for the rant...

Awesome book, great adventure story.
I have read this book twice and will read it again. The first time was a rush to see if the couple survive and get safely home. The second reading was to enjoy the story. In both cases I could not put it down. The prose and dialogue is great. There is a lot of humor too. The text flows beautifully. I have some reservation about the realism of the mission the couple was sent on. Why was it necessary? Who was being protected? A lot of unanswered questions. These in no way detract from the story. I also wondered if the cabin could have been made warm enough for all the nude romping in the frozen wilderness of a Canadian winter, with heating limited to 2 open fireplaces in the log cabin. A very efficient log burner would have been necessary! I am sure readers will love the way the main characters personalities are revealed. These tough DI's have soft centers.

I've read this book multitudes of times now,
I've read this book multitudes of times now, and I thought I would finally write a review of it. This is a good book, or at least good enough to me that I would read it multiple times. Even though I can nearly vividly visualize every scene in the book before I reach it, I have gotten a certain amount of joy out of reading it. If there was one thing I have to say negatively about the book is that at times it became difficult to know which of the characters was thinking or talking. While I don't mind that different characters have their points of view or thoughts portrayed within a single chapter, sometimes within a single page, it is extraordinarily difficult to know which character I was listening to.I also really loved the ending, and that the parents showed how much they cared for their daughter. I like books that tie up the endings in a nice little bow, even if it wasn't a happy ending (which this one is a happy ending so to speak). All in all, this was a book to cry to.

It's thrilling and sweet at the same time
I'm very late to this party but I wanted to say: I loved it!It's my kind of book, you get your angst, but you also get your fluffy stuff and knowing that this was a debut impressed me even more. I loved it all, from beginning to end, but I gotta say, although the second part delivered what I usually like in books, closure, the first half was my favourite. It kept me on my toes, lol. I need to check it out, but this is one of the stories I'd love a follow up on the characters.

Passionate and intense
Reading this book was an intense thrilling experience and I loved every minute of it! The characters are both very intense but very developed and we get to experience all of their different sides! It's the perfect combination of passion and thriller and every pages makes you beg for more

Excellent read, plenty of adventure and great characters
I enjoyed the challenges the characters faced in a plane accident and how their relationship grew and that they stayed committed to eachother. Hard to put down. Very well written, lots of romance.
