I initially left a one star review because the first timer we received didn't make the ringing sound when the time was up. I then started a return on this item and a new one was delivered the next day that worked perfectly fine. The working timer was replaced even before I had gotten a chance to return the first one. Very pleased with Amazon's service and the cute, sturdy and working second timer we received.

I got this for my 8 y.o. daughter to help improve her awareness and develop value for time as she does homework and chores. She loves it and uses it consistently.*NOTE: BE SURE TO READ AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FOR SETTING IT. It’s specific but simple.My daughter was able to remember how to execute after I showed her and she practiced 1 time.

I was expecting it to be thin and cheaply made like many novelty timers, but this one is surprisingly well made. Not only is the plastic thicker and more sturdy, the "tick" has a pleasing quality to it and the bell sounds nice too.

It is an extremely cute little timer but goodness is the ticking so loud. Seems like a silly thing and I expect ticking sounds from an egg timer but this is a bit much.

My old kitchen timer finally died after many decades of use -- it still kept accurate time, but the bell didn't ring. I looked on Amazon for a replacement. I found one exactly like the old one, but it had some poor reviews. This cute model with the cat was more highly rated. It works very well and really brightens up my stove top area. It's easy to use because the cat is easy to grip. No batteries are required. Just remember to follow the directions: turn CLOCKWISE to 55, then COUNTERCLOCKWISE to the number of minutes desired. Turning counterclockwise from 0 will damage the mechanism. It even works for very short lengths of time -- I use it for angel hair pasta (2 minutes). Purchased to keep track of time while doing a Cajun crawfish boil on the beach at the lake. It was perfect and exactly what I needed. I now have a whole Cajun pot kit that I keep together which includes this timer, some hooks and my heat resistant oven glove mitts. They all sit inside the 60qt pot with the giant wooden spatula through the lid to hold it down. I won't do another pot without my cute piggy timer, she is exactly what I need to keep from getting too distracted with chit chatting and keeps me on task for the perfect boil.

It’s ok have to turn to 55 min first then set time. Ringer is fine.

We're cat people so anything with a cat on it always catches our attention. I bought 2 of these, 1 formy husband to use and 1 for me. They're cute, work well and add to the decor.
