Inspiring and thoughtful
Well researched, easy to read, great photos. Part of a series that includes trees, shrubs, and groundcovers, and I plan to buy all three over time!

How to enjoy your shrubbery.
I enjoyed the detailed descriptions of the uses and effects of many common shrubs already growing around me, and the ideas for planting others I had not seen before. Good information on the soil and habitat they prefer, and how to propagate and cultivate them for optimum health. Great illustrations to help identify the shrubs without error.

All filler with nothing different from his other book
I would not recommend this book, his other book, Creating A Forest Garden, contains pretty much the same info as this book but covers vastly more topics and more useful material. I would highly recommend that book instead, and give this one a miss. The most glaring omission from this book is any info on propagating plants, which is always included in his other books. This is by far the worst book by Martin Crawford, all his other books contain much more useful info, and by far his best book is Creating A Forest Garden, get that instead.
