Animal Repellent, Deer, Rabbit, Ready-to-Use Liquid Spray, 32oz

We have an extended family of deer that migrate through our yard daily and this product gave my plants a fighting chance to live. In the early Spring, the deer ravage even my deer resistant plants; I only sprayed this product on plants twice the entire Spring and that seems to have been enough to keep the deer away. (Previously the deer browsed/ravaged despite plant cages and predatory urine use.) Although- I am not sure that this product helped keep raccoons or maybe squirrels from digging up my crocus bulbs -and that's as of May... I know that this product can attract bears - so maybe it has a similar effect on raccoons? IDK I'll have to spray again and update. Also I'm not sure if there is any cause and effect relationship, but the groundhogs that were burrowing on the hill close to my flower bed seem to have disappeared since I first used the spray - or at least I haven't seen them since I used this product (we saw one or two feasting on the lawn a few weeks prior to application). As for the scent, it does stink - but that's mostly because I hadn't screwed the top on and the bottle poured onto the ground. A few rains later and the smell was gone, but the effectiveness seems to still last. I don't really notice the scent when I spritz the leaves of the plants that are starting to push through the ground in Spring- but I don't have a particularly sensitive nose either. I have read many reviews on the sprayer clogging - BUT if you read the instructions, it states that you need to clean the sprayer after each use and do not store the sprayer in the bottle; instead replace the cap that was originally afixed. That being said, I wouldn't use it on vegetables - and if you have plants with big leaves like hostas, expect that this product WILL 'stain' them visually - but I don't know how effective granules would be for them.

I was having a big problem with one of my horses wanting to eat all the new growth off one of my young trees in the front yard. I don't have a cross fence yet to keep them away from the house so, this has been a big problem. I have tried several things with no results. This however worked! I sprayed from the ground up, being sure to soak all the new growth and the limbs and trunk of the tree. It's been month now and my poor tree is doing better than ever. No more signs of whole limbs or new leafs missing. I couldn't be happier. I spray about every 2 weeks as stated on the instructions. It does stink! But then it's blood? I can live with it. I did notice some complaining about the sprayer clogging rendering it useless? First, you want to save the original cap so you can reuse it. When done using the product, take the sprayer off and run water through it. I usually fill a cup full of water in the sink and put the end of the sprayer in it and spray till it runs clear. Then spray the rest of the water out and store till next time. Put the original cap back on and your good to go. Also, so I didn't waste any product, when I first took the sprayer out, I sprayed what was still left in the sprayer back into the container before I ran water through it. Just be sure not to get any on you as we all know, blood stains. Awesome product that has saved my tree without being hazardous to my animals. It has also kept the rabbits at bay. I live on two acres with lots of wildlife. Deer in particular feed on any new leaves that come out in a wind break of maples I am growing. Spraying this stops them overnight. My only issue is that the leaves are stained dark red and some buds seem to burn in the sun when it is applied. But if my windbreak doesn't get nibbled to death, I am satisfied.

If I could give it a zero I would give it a zero stars. I've used it four times and the squirrels don't care about it at all there's still all over the place even right after spraying waste of money....

The good: 1. It appears to repel rabbits and deer 2. It can be used on edible crops The bad: 1. The spray leaves very unsightly red bloodstains on the plants, which eventually turn black and still unsightly 2. The Plantskydd seems to have damaged my young tomatoes and cucumber plants (many of them wilted right where the blood spots were, the leaves that did not have spray did not wilt). The plants on the deck, which I did not spray did not wilt. Strawberries were fine and did not react badly to the spray. 3. Flowers did not wilt, but I did not like how the leaves looked after the application 4. The spray mechanism leaks when I spray. The first time I used it my hands were covered in blood-colored liquid. I did not expect it. I just stood there staring on my bloody hand, it looked like I stabbed someone. From there on I learned to wear old garden gloves which are now quite stained. 5. Amazon description does not state it, but on the Plantskydd web site under "How should I store" it states "Ready-to-use Liquid—use within 3 months of opening." So if you buy it in the spring, you need to use it that summer or it will go bad. 6. Requires care after each usage. From To Plantskydd web site: to prevent sprayer from clogging after each use, you need to remove the sprayer, flush with water, and replace lid with original cap. Bottom line: after a few initial applications I was reluctant to use the spray on any plants other than strawberries. However, now that the strawberries have fruits the instructions said to stop spraying... so the spray was used for a short period of time with mixed results. I bought this summer of 2013, didn't use it last year because of reviews saying the odor was very bad. I live in a townhouse and did not want to risk a bad odor traveling over to my neighbors' yards. All but one hosta survived the rabbits last summer, the first time in several years, but one morning this summer saw a young rabbit sniffing around the hostas and nibbling on new growth from another plant so decided to give Plantskydd a try. I sprayed it early evening to avoid the heat and sunlight since my backyard faces south and gets direct sun all day. It was not windy so I didn't have to worry about getting any product on me or my clothes. Yes, the odor is bad but not as bad as I had imagined. I shook the container well and followed instructions, no problems at all with the sprayer clogging. After I applied Plantskydd on the hostas and other plants I took the applicator out, cleaned it thoroughly, put the original cap back on and stored it in a cool location in my basement. The odor did last a few days, kept the back windows and doors closed until it went away. It wasn't bad enough for me to be concerned about it affecting my neighbors. My hosta leaves remained stained until after a few rains. They and the other plants still have a light residual brown tint in spots, but the rabbits and anything else that might be interested have stayed away. For several previous years I would come down each morning and find all the leaves on the hostas gone. Whatever was eating them ate one plant a night. I was going to dig them up and replace them, but I'll keep them now and use Plantsydd the beginning of each season. Has been several weeks since I sprayed, hoping one spray lasts until the end of the summer. I have to use or throw the bottle away within 90 days of opening, so will have to purchase another bottle each summer. One unexpected occurrence, woke one morning to see a fox sniffing around my back yard. Had seen a fox once in the woods behind the house some months ago, first time I had seen a fox since I moved in 27 years ago. Had never seen or heard of a fox sniffing around someone's yard in this neighborhood. I Google'd and found foxes are attracted to blood. Hopefully, I won't have to spray again and the odor is no longer attracting other animals. I do recommend the product.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and we have a big problem with deer in our yard. I love gardening and didn’t want to be limited to only deer resistant plants but also didn’t wasn’t to do a ton of work to keep the deer out. I used to have plants being eaten down to the roots overnight but with this the deer don’t touch them. I reapply it about once a month in the summer and this seems to be enough. The only downside is that once you open the bottle, you really need to use the whole thing. If you don’t, the sprayer gets clogged the next time you try to use it. I’ve tried running water through the sprayer after the first use but even that doesn’t help.
