Great Baitcaster, takes some practice and adjustment.
So I'm not a crazy experienced Angler. I have done a good deal of fishing though and I've used plenty of spinning reels and bait casters. I've used Penn and Abu Garcia reels. As well as some of the lower cost reels out there. So this one, like most Baitcaster reels, takes some dialing in to work well. My first cast I had a total birds nest of a reel. I had adjusted the knows on both sides so it dropped in a controlled manner with the weight I was casting on it, but that wasn't enough. So I tightened the left all the way and the right most of the way. Like this is wouldn't drop on its own but it casted great. The reel is super super smooth. Clicker is loud (as it should be). I love the mechanism for releasing the spool. Very well designed, one hand operation is a snap. First time out I only managed to catch one fish, but reeling it in was easy and one of the smoothest catches I've ever had. I've got it mounted on a 7ft Ugly Stik. On the design front, the reel feels and looks good. It's easy to scratch up, but all metal and feels very solid. I have the 50R so one of the smaller ones but it easily holds plenty of line for fishing the intercoastal in Florida and can handle fish in the 30lb and under range very well. The handles feel good in the fingers and are quite grippy, which is nice if you've been handling a fish and have slimy hands. Not everyone is like me, but I'm OCD. After every use lightly spray it off with the mist setting on a hose to help the salt water run off. Don't use a jet setting or you'll just push the salt into the reel. In summary, the reel is fantastic. I've only used it once so far, so I can't speak to longevity, but inspecting the design and watching videos I'm pretty sure it will last years and years. I'm already thinking about buying a 70R and another rod and getting my current rod set up for my wife. If you want a phenomenal cheap combo, pick one of these up with a $40 or so Ugly stick and some Kastking braided line and you'll be set for around $100. Possibly less.

Packaging good with no extra junk
What an outstanding reel! I ordered from Amazon after reading many reviews and some YouTube vids. It arrived in just three days with normal shipping. Packaging good with no extra junk. It did come with a nice cloth bag to store the reel in when not in use. Now i have other similar reels by abu, penn etc. and was looking for something to pair with my new Santiam 11ft surf rod as my other reels were a bit large in diameter for the rod. This reel (KastKing Rover 5/0) is just about the perfect size reel for this rod. I spooled it up with 40lb KastKing super braid. I don't have a line counter yet but it took most of a 327ft spool. I couldn't wait to try this reel out and went out back to my small pond to kinda get a feel for the reel. So after my first few casts i couldn't believe that this inexpensive but quality built reel could cast so effortlessly. It was a very smooth and quite cast and the retrieval is a great speed for this size reel. I used a 1 ounce weight only to try this thing out and was easily casting 200ft. I then tried it on an ugly stick tiger rod 7ft with the same weight and line. Again very impressed with its performance on this rod which i use for catfishing. I've never used a KastKing reel before but i like this one more than some of my 200$+ reels. I give it 5 stars and recommend this reel to anyone looking for a great conventional style reel! In fact i liked it so much that just two days after receiving it i ordered the KastKing Rover 6/0!

Great value !
I bought the Rover 50R and so far it is a sweet little reel . I doubt you will find a better quality reel for $ 53.99. It is very light weight and very comfortable to use. The spool brake knob is a great feature . It helps beginners from getting the old " birds nest " when casting. I used a Penn Long Beach reel when surfcasting . For many years it was my favorite reel but somehow I lost 2 of them when I moved a few years ago and Penn does not make them any more. I found a couple on Ebay but they were way way overpriced. Enter the Kastking . It is almost as good as the Penn. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because of that stupid level wind feature. Penn does the same thing now. I don't get it . It takes away from casting distance. So when you need to cast over the breakers on the beach , you have a problem. If you can't reel your line in and keep it even on the spool , maybe you should try golf . They should make 2 models of the Rover 50 . One with the level wind and one without it. That is my only complaint so far. Outside of that it is a very well built reel that should give many years of service providing you take care of your stuff. Always always rinse it off after using it and let it dry thoroughly . Keep it lubed and you should be good to go. I am beginning to think that this may be a better boat reel than casting reel. We will see. I am going to keep at it.

Seem like good reels.
Just received two of these reels today for my lead core setup for trolling. I was able to fit 100yds of suffix advanced 832 12# lead with maybe 30 yards of berkley 20# tuff line for backing. It was all it wanted to take but I like the compact setup. Initially the reels seem really nice for the price. They are fairly smooth and look nice with the red aluminum. The clicker is loud enough but not too loud. They have plenty of drag power as well. I paired them with the okuma classic pro GLT medium 8'6" rods and I'm quite happy with the setup so far. Two brand new rigs for about 200$. I hope to use them later this week and will update my review if I have any problems. I'm quite confident they will work nicely. I would have liked some abu's but at a fraction of the price I'm happy with my choice.

Great reel at a great price
I have been using a spin cast reel, but was looking for a conventional bait caster. Although I am still working on my technique, this real casts great. It has ample drag for whatever fish youโll be fighting and is great quality at a great price. It comes in plenty of sizes depending what your needs are. This is a beautifully looking well built real.

The 90 is HUGE, 50 just right for musky fishing
Bought a Rover 90 figuring to use it for musky fishing by throwing big heavy lures. The 90 is HUGE, meant more for ocean fishing. I held it in both hands with a hand on either side and my finger tips couldnโt touch. Definitely not for inland waters. I returned it and ordered a 50. The 50 is great. Loaded it with 80lb braid, mounted it on a 7โ medium action Ugly Stick and used a 1/2โ combination wrench as a practice lure. It casts that wrench every bit of 150โ. What I like is the line guide moves with the line on the cast. I paid over $300 for reels that werenโt as nice as this. I have 8 different makes of round bait casting reels and this is one of the best, and it costs the least. Time will tell how long it lasts.

Great but weak drag
Great casting reel and a joy to fish with but drag is extremely weak even cranked down as tight as I can get it. Don't plan on using it for anything big.

Great results first time out
I caught four nice catfish my first time out with the Rover 50. I'm new to this style of reel but didn't have any trouble casting or with backlash. So far I love it ! Update 8-12-19 I caught another limit of catfish (3-7lbs) today and really like the reel. However one of the red buttons that hold the knob on fell off and let the knob fall off. I put it back together but not sure if it Is going to stay. I was fishing a rocky shoreline so was lucky I was able to find it.
