Very happy with this hood (update: still very happy)
Well built, quiet, powerful. Very happy with this hood. Had to reduce duct to 6" for last few inches, it still flows a ton of air. Looks great, install directions well done.Update a month later: push buttons have a nice solid click. Work with wet hands. Hood is easy to clean, very solid performance. I find myself leaving it on and thinking it's on 1, but it's on 2 (medium). It's quieter on full blast than my old microwave/ hood combo was on low.No issues with my duct squeezing down to 6" at the outside discharge. Still moving tons of air, no weird airflow issues. The rounded corners have saved each of our foreheads a couple times. Nice touch for function and looks. This thing is very solid. My next option was a $1500 external blower setup- this is delivering the performance I needed at a much lower price and with much easier install. I did it in an evening, no particular rush.Since its heavy and I didn't have a helper I covered my stove top and put a motorcycle jack there and lifted the hood into place with that. Worked great, just as shown in directions.LEDs are bluish. I'd prefer whiter LED but in normal use this is a non issue. Good, even, bright light.Update:After a year still a great hood. There's a but coming. Have had trouble with LED lights burning out. They have multiple LEDs in them and after a while 3-6 of the 15 LEDs in each module failed.Xtremeair mailed me replacements in November 2015 (bought hood in August 2015). I just emailed them again (august 2016) regarding needing another set of replacements. I expect this to be easy like it was last time as I'm still in 2 year warranty (blower 10, the rest 2) but I'm concerned if this keeps happening, what about 2 years from now when I'm out of warranty? I don't see the bulbs for sale directly at retail anywhere, although I do see lots of chinese manufacturers selling them on their own sites. It's a 12v module so worst case I can cook up (haha a pun!) a replacement light unit but I should not have to. I am hopeful Xtremeair has found a better LED light supplier with an improved light.... we shall see.Update June 2018. I have LED light modules flickering again... I’m hopeful Xtremeair steps up with replacements again, and hopeful these last longer than the previous set, which was definitely an improvement over the initial sets.

Excellent hood.
Great hood and it was pretty easy to install. The pros:1) The air draw is much more than the standard Home Depot/Lowes hood over the stove.2) The SS grease traps are easy to clean - just put them in the dishwasher.3) Quieter than the standard Home Depot/Lowes hood. On high the old hood made so much noise that conversation was impossible. This hood draws much more air and is quieter. On high conversations are fine - it is about the level of a modern cloths washer or dryer. Low is much quieter, but still pulls a lot of air.4) Easy to install if you are handy. It took me about 2 - 3 hours. The hardest thing was going from the 8" outlet of the unit to the 6" duct. A standard 8" to 6" duct was too long for my installation, so I had to cut a piece of galvanized steel and tape it with aluminum tape. It is fine but took about an hour.>>>UPDATE Oct 28, 2016: Unit is still working great after 6 months. No regrets at all.>>>UPDATE July28, 2017: Still working great. I wish I had put this in years ago.

Great Range Hood for my kitchen
Outstanding quality! Now past 80 I had to call on my grandson to help with install. He reminded me that I had assumed the roll that he once had as helper. The hood is made of very high quality material and demonstrates very high quality workmanship. It was packaged well and was delivered quickly. I recognized immediately that installation would require cabinet jacks for safe install. I built a pair of cabinet jacks using pipe clamps and plywood copying a video found on the Internet. In the end, only needed a single jack rather than a pair. Reduced the vent by an inch with an adapter purchased at Home Depot and was able avoid a new through the roof vent pipe.Use the hood at least twice every day and it is excellent in every way. Led lighting is far better than the old incandescent lights in my old hood. Filters are superior to anything I had seen before.Placed a piece of 3/4" plywood between the counter tops on either side of the range, centered the cabinet jack on the plywood and jacked the hood in place under the cabinet which I had prepared. Because the hood is so large and heavy, moving it into position is a job for two healthy persons! After securing the hood to the cabinet, electrical and vent connections were completed. My hood was installed at the minimum recommended hight above the range which was ten inches higher than the on hood. I modified the old over hood cabinets and am able to store above the hood.Attached photos show the installation.
