Great album!!! Different from the previous two but in a good way. Sounds less punky and more like a thrash groove metal cross. I am the antidote is an instant classic. Five stars!!

Finland’s metal masters Lost Society released their third studio album “Braindead” in February 2016. While many dedicated fans may see this album as a departure from the band’s previous outings, I found the album fresh and invigorating.“Braindead” reminded me instantly of past thrashers like Metallica, Megadeth and Testament attempts to branch out and expand back in the early ‘90s. The album’s development and sound path is very reminiscent of “Countdown to Extinction,” “Metallica” and “The Ritual” by the aforementioned bands, which some may be turned off by, but I actually think this is a step in the right direction. The most noticeable difference between previous offerings and this album is the sound quality and production, but more importantly the band has incorporated more groove and rhythm into their repertoire on “Braindead.” The album still unloads a ton of metal in your face to be sure, but instead of ten songs that sound exactly alike, every song on this album sounds fresh and inspired. My favorite tracks from the album are “I Am the Antidote,” “Riot,” “PST 88” and “Hangover Activator,” but every track is all killer no filler to me.If you like any of the bands I mentioned in this review then you’ll love Lost Society. If you feel the Black album killed Metallica and started their precipitous dissension into mediocrity, well then, you may have to give this a few spins before it grows on you. This is simply put a killer metal album for the 21st century.

Fantastic third release.Their sound has matured, moving from the very crossover-ish sound they had before, to a much more groove-thrash sound.The new sound is still very much Lost Society, though, and there are still quite a few faster songs in the mix, paired with the slower ones, balancing out the album perfectly.It may not be everyones cup of tea, but it's actually my favorite album of theirs to date.

Finally some rhythm here a good mix. Not just flying through song after song . Don’t get me wrong their first two albums are excellent but it’s nice to mix it up a little . They did a great job on this album.

LOST SOCIETY est un jeune groupe finlandais crée (JYVASKYLA) en 2010 qui compte déjà trois albums à son actif, l'explosif FAST LOUD DEATH (2013), la terreur TERROR HUNGRY (2014), et cette nouvelle bombe: BRAINDEAD (2016). Rappelons que dès leur premier ouvrage, les lascars avaient déjà signé sur le label tout puissant et stratosphérique NUCLEAR BLAST, bénéficiant donc de gros moyens pour produire et batir leur son et d'un budget promotionnel fantastique et illimité, afin de les faire connaitre à travers toute la planète. Pour BRAINDEAD nos scandinaves ont su se renouveler avec un thrash plus travaillé, certes moins rapide, mais plus lourd et mélodique, s'appuyant sur des soli monstrueux de la redoutable paire LESONNEN/ELBANA. Comme sur l'amorce du disque, avec la tuerie qu'est "i am antidote", carrément addictif, entrainant, avec une mélodie et un refrain imparable desservis par de multiples soli dithyrambiques. Ce morceau vous fracasse vraiment le cerveau. Du grand art. Le groupe semble aussi parfois très proche du hardcore ("rage me up") avec un SAMMY ELBANA (voix) enragé et habité sur le tonitruant "riot" qui casse vraiment la baraque. Mais les brulots thrash sont toujours bien là, "mad torture", sa surprenante intro genre "massacre à la tronconneuse", bien en adéquation avec cette superbe pochette des plus gore. Le long passage instrumental sur ce titre est fabuleux et en ferait baver plus d'un (développé sur plusieurs morceaux). Et que dire du riff d'intro de " hollow eyes" qui est énorme me rappelant la fougue contagieuse, venue d'ailleurs (sur "rage me up" aussi) du premier METALLICA KILL'EM ALL(1982). On retrouve cette fougue complètement débridée sur le terrible "rage me up" avec une fois de plus des riffs assassins, d'un autre monde. Mais LOST SOCIETY ne manque pas de groove, l'utilisant de fort belle manière comme sur le très rock'n' roll "hangover activator". En outre le groupe atteint vraiment des sommets sur le power thrash épique "only my death is certain", plus de huit minutes d'atmosphère lugubre et de mélodies sombres avec ses arpèges de début lorgnant une fois de plus vers le grand METALLICA et son mythique "nothing else matters". Notons aussi l'excellente reprise de PANTERA "p.s.t. 88". Il faut le souligner et ne pas l'oublier LOST SOCIETY signe là une œuvre encore plus aboutie, renouvelant sa musique magistralement et en plus sans y perdre une once de puissance et de folie. Dorénavant, BRAINDEAD les placant comme le leader, avec MESHIIAK du renouveau du thrash métal. A ne pas louper! Note: 8/10.

Wer sich bei dieser Scheibe eine reine Thrash Platte erhofft ist leider fehl am Platz!Das heißt aber nicht das die Jungs aus Finnland verlernt haben zu thrashen, im Gegenteil, die reinen Thrash Stücke sind Nackenbrecher vor den Herrn (Hangover Activator, Rage Me Up z.B.). Auch die anderen Stücke sind wahre Meisterwerke, so erinnert der Opener (I Am the Antidote) beim ersten Anhören an ein langsames Stück des (wahrscheinlichen) Vorbildes Pantera, aber man erkennt sofort den eigenen Stil der Band wieder. Genau so gut könnte der Anfang von "Only (My) Death Is Certain" von eines der ersten beiden Flotsam & Jetsam Alben inspiriert worden sein. Aber nichts desto trotz ist dieses Album ein Album voller genialen Riffs, eingänginge Soli und genialem (Oldschool-) Thrash-Metal, der den Head schneller bangen lässt! Jedem Metal Fan vollstens zu empfehlen!

Die Scheibe ist der totale Wahnsinn!! Ich habe alle 3 Platten von Lost Society und bin im Laufe der Jahre ein echter Verehrer der Finnischen Thrash Newcomer geworden. Wie zu erwarten fetzt die neue Platte richtig

Très cool mais le chant est difficile à comprendre

フィンランド出身スラッシュメタル・バンド、Lost Societyが2016年に出した3rdアルバムです。そろそろ中堅どころといったイメージがありますが、メンバー全員20代前半…最年長のアルットゥですらまだ23歳という若いバンドです。前2作のアホみたいなノリと勢いは若干影を潜め、ミドル、スローテンポの曲を随所に挟んだ、どちらかといえばダークな作風です。まあでも激速スラッシュ曲もちゃんと入っているので安心して下さい。#1 "I Am the Antidote" はずっしりとヘヴィなスロー曲。本作を聴いた誰もが意外に思ったのではないでしょうか。リフは強烈で、スローながらガツンとくる曲です。ライヴでも、たぶんこれが1曲目になるんでしょうね。#2 "Riot" は前の曲からちょっとテンポを上げたミドル曲。しかしこの曲もやはりリフが強烈。もう完全に聴き手を暴れさせるためのリフですね。あとヴォーカルのテンションが恐ろしく高いのと、言葉の紡ぎ方のせいでしょうか、歯切れのよいリズム感による切迫した雰囲気が素晴らしい。#3 "Mad Torture" はイントロこそアップテンポですが、ヴォーカルが入ると一気に疾走。1曲目と2曲目でじわじわ高まってきた聴き手のボルテージが、多分ここで一気に解放されます。まだ若いバンドなのに、楽曲の配置による聴き手への心理操作を完全にモノにしています。末恐ろしいバンドですね(笑)#5 "Rage Me Up" は多分最も従来路線の曲ではないでしょうか。ハイテンションで突っ走るノリと勢いの疾走曲。いかにもスラッシュメタル的な野郎コーラスも頻繁に登場し、ライヴでも盛り上がりそうです。PVにもなってる#6 "Hangover Activator" も、80年代臭が濃厚に漂うスラッシュ曲。ハイテンション暴動といった感じの、明るく楽しくデストロイ！　な1曲です。#7 "Only (My) Death Is Certain" は8分に及ぶ壮大な曲。アルペジオで静かに始まり、壮大なイントロへと繋がる。ヘヴィで堂々とした3連符の曲です。静かなパートと激しいパートで緩急をつけたドラマティックな構成は、彼らが曲作りの面でもどんどん進化していることを示しています。本編ラストの#8 "P.S.T. 88" はPanteraのカヴァー。原曲は、フィル・アンセルモ加入後の最初のアルバム「Power Metal」(1988年 4th) に収録されています。Panteraはこの次の「Cowboys from Hell」でメジャーデビューしてその名を全世界に轟かせることになるのですが、あえてインディーズ時代の作品から選曲するところがマニアックでいいですね。第一印象はもっと疾走曲があってもいいのになというものでしたが、何度か聞いているうちに、これはこれでアルバムトータル的に非常に良い内容だと思えてきました。序盤はずっしりとヘヴィに。聴き手の体が温まってきた中盤で疾走曲を連発。後半でバンドの新機軸ともいえる壮大な曲を入れて、最後はPanteraのカヴァーで締める。非常に良い流れです。

前回までの勢いはどこにいったのか…パッとするリフや曲は皆無です。
