ENO, Eagles Nest Outfitters ProFly Rain Tarp, Ultralight Hammock Accessory

I picked up the ProFly Rain Tarp for a multi-day backpack in the Southern Appalachians, it completes the rest of my Eno hammock rig - doublenest, slapstraps and bug net. No rain was forecasted, but I packed it anyway mainly since it was a new toy (costly one at that, IMO). I only set it up the first night. It takes some time to align, but the coverage is ample to cover the the Eno Doublesnest Hammock, head to toe. Didn't get rain, so I can't say that 100%, but I could see this will keep you dry under most rain conditions. The 6 guy wires do a nice job of making a useful shelter out of the tarp. The downside of 6 guy wires is that it takes time to set-up... That being said, when I'm in the woods there is usually no rush, having an excuse to stop the hike a few minutes early isn't always a bad thing. I considered the other Eno tarps as well. One has only 2 guy lines, the other has a few more but looks pretty cool. I'm sure all will do the job well, but I'm happy with the the ProFly.

I purchased this to throw into my day bag. A 'just in case' sort of thing. Very nice quality and very light! I hike in the mountains of NC where thunderstorms are common during the summer months. This usually means being stuck on top of a mountain during extremely heavy rains and intense lightning. Hey we receive as much rain a rainforest!!!! This fits the bill for easy protect from the elements. High quality product! UPDATE: I've used this twice now while out hiking and I couldn't be more pleased. Super easy to string up and it's waterproof. I've had popup thunderstorms develop (HEAVY RAIN) and this is a life saver. Watch where you set up of course so you don't create pool and you are in great shape. No issues with quality. Dries easily and is easy to get back in the carry bag.

I was able to test this fully this past weekend. My understanding of this product was that by waterproof it mean that water would instantly repel off of this material. I set up my rainfly minutes before the rain. While I was setting up straps and hammock it started raining. HERES THE KICKER. When I went to put up my ridgeline it was tangled so I stood up underneath my tarp and laid my line in my hammock and started untangling. While I was doing that my back started getting a LITTLE moist. I thought it was sweat at first so I didn't mind it. As the sun set I used a flashlight to finish setting everything up and noticed that the tarp had a wet spot as if it has absorbed water. I felt the tarp and it had. It did keep me dry all night long and didn't leak at all. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because it LOOKS like it had absorbed water and was wet to the touch from underneath(very faint feel of wetness in light to medium rain) The end of the tarp that attaches to the tree is a simple line that goes from the tarp to the tree. There is no ridgeline that goes all the way across this tarp(not a big deal I use my own) PROS -eno branding on the tarp is very neat and subtle -stuff sack has a line to grab on the end to pull tarp out easily(I wish all eno products did this) -DID NOT LEAK AT ALL -line tie outs are very long for that they are (about 4-5 feet?) -can easily be made taught(stretched out with no wrinkles) CONS -line is a little flimsy -no ridgeline -doesn't 100% repel water I do recommend this tarp fully, only reason for 4 stars is because if you simply laid it over you and it was touching you skin, you would get wet although this is no the intended purpose of this product.

It's awesome! Very light, but still quite large. It's actually pretty amazing just how small it packs down to. I have lots of Eno products and this one is my favorite. It's a great tarp with a great price tag and you can't go wrong! It's a little over a pound and it keeps you dry while sleeping. It also comes with all the guy line you need to set it up. The only thing you will have to purchase along with it are some stakes to hold it down.

Simple to set up... I mean, really simple. Works as expected. Repels rain, wind doesn't blow it all over the place and fits perfect for the ENO hammock.. Made the mistake of not getting the mosquito net as the mosquitos in Wisconsin will carry you away if you are not careful. After a kayak trip, purchased to net immediately. Will try it out in 2016.

I was unsure about this tarp when I bought it because the reviews were all over the place. But it's a perfect size for my double nest hammock. I like that it's a plain rectangle as opposed to the other funky shaped rain tarps that ENO sells. I took it hiking for 2 months on the AT last summer and it kept me dry, protecteed me from the wind and did just what it was supposed to do :) It comes with a nice bag, so it was easy to pack and unpack every day as well.

Used mine bike packing...settled for a cheaper one last year and I got soaked during a night in my hammock during a storm...I upgraded to this to go with the rest of my ENO set up and honestly never opened it from its pack until I got to our campsite in the UP of Michigan on a bike packing trip...slept through a pretty BIG lake storm full of WIND and RAIN and I stayed COMPLETELY DRY with the set up pictured...honestly I woke up thinking at 2 am.."there is no way I stay dry..." and then woke up again at 8 am dry as can be...super easy to set up and well worth the money....and you don't even need to treat with seam seal it's ready to go obviously from story
