Author did not do his homework
I found it lacking in history. My family has been in lauderdale since 1929 and I can tell you that there is a lot more to the history behind spring break and the Swimming Hall of Fame. For someone to come to Lauderdale in 1986 and think they now have the essence of what Lauderdale was like shows you really didn't do your homework. FYI, by 1986 spring break was pretty much gone because of the destruction of hotel property and personal property.

Repetative and tended to be boring. I was interest in reading it because I grew up on Ft.L beach and was an extra in Where the Boys Are. Fortunate my name did not appear in the book.

Very happy, good addition to the library.
I collect a lot of history on south florida, however scant it is.I was wary when i heard of the book, as many times these are not very well done. But I saw it was over 500 pages, so that piqued my interest.I was saddened to find the larger print which made the book that big.Upon reading it though I found a very lucid and very well researched book, though short of bibliography and sources. Many of the sources were first hand interviews which makes this a good book indeed. The author does justice to the subject matter by briefly hitting on the history, politics, and community from start to finish. He even goes beyond the spring break era and hits the rise of the adult club industry down here. This book highlights a lot of the people places and events you might have experienced if you were down here.I will definitely add this book as a great addition to my south florida history books.Versus the florida history books I have, I find this author to have a well written and researched book that actually compares or is better than many I have.As for the high number and pages and big text? Well, it might make it cost more to produce, but it adds a certain distinction and flavor to the book and it is now a great history book of the time.Congrats to the author, you might not make a fortune on it, but you did justice to the subject and I think this book will be a part of the broward historical society for the rest of browards time on earth..Great job.
