Q: Are these reusable on only disposable?

Leigh, the Sea-Shellers that we offer are made of ABS plastic (the same material used in football helmets). So yes, they're certainly reusable. There are plenty of knock-offs being sold so ensure that you order the Sea-Sheller manufactured by WNA (formerly Spirit Brands)

Q: Why is there no metal option? This thing works awesome, but if the shell is too hard, the plastic does bend. Make a metal one, and charge a premium.

The manufacturer at the time (Spirit Brands) did make a stainless steel one but felt that it was too cost-prohibitive. They cut off production of the SS model 6-8 years ago.

Q: Are these good tools for steamed crabs (such as Chesapeake blues), or, are they more for Alaskan crab legs? [Both?]

Never had steamed crabs but when having guests, I found these plastic tools worked very well where the red and white meet on the leg. I think they are very good for the price. I have purchased stainless for a gift but for the times we have crab legs, the plastic does the job.
