Expect problems
I'm writing this after one year of use, I have a 4 storey house so range is a problem and I thought this would be the solution. Like many others I was able to set up the wired extension and now have 2 ethernet cables serving a computer and PS4 which work well. However the wifi has never worked, I recently attempted fix it and extend my existing network as promised, but without success.I want to warn others that the promises of 'Plug and play' or 'Easy setup' might well turn out to be false. I couldn't get mine to work simply so I began searching for a solution on here and on the manufacturer's official website. On my journey I was struck at how quickly the fluffy marketing words were replaced with poorly written technical language. There's talk of a utility that can connect to your device and enable you to make the required network changes but I never found it. Confusion reigns on the official website, the number of variants of the same product is vast, the navigation is dire and information is buried deep. For an item that is sold to non-techie consumers the support falls well short. The official forum is where I decided to give up, the number of similar posts demonstrates how widespread the problems are and the replies show how poorly the company deal with them.

Powerlink adapters
These seem to work fine, but as usual, are highly dependent upon various other factors like the quality & circuit arrangement of your wiring and the general reliability of your wifi connection. They're reasonably easy to set up, although I the "push and hold" thing can be fiddly; holding for a specific amount of time activates the configuration while holding for longer does a full reset. If you've got a button to press, it should really be "just push it once".

Far better than a booster
So far so good. It's like having another router upstairs. No internet speed loss at all. Have my fire tv box hard wired with an Ethernet cable. Using the wifi on my phone etc. Did a speed check using wifi app and in fact was getting better rate than sky router wifi. The wifi signal is much stronger than my previous netgear booster. I have not cloned my router as I want to know when I'm connected to it. It is no hassle switching between "routers". Only downside is it is awkward to change its SSID and password. The TP-Link app does not support this version. Had to go to their website on the laptop to download the utility to change name. Although this is not necessary if you clone your router or are happy enough with the default TP-Link SSID.UpdateSlight issue in that it drops connection from time to time. You have to reset it. From reading other posts it's to do with it not pinging the router. This and the fact that connecting to the settings being difficult is why I have dropped a star. TP Link app still hasn't been made compatible for this product.

Works well extending the broadband signal for TV and PC`s
Bought these in order to extend my Broadband signal to the front room TV (non smart), as I had a weak signal thru` all the walls. Plugged in the smaller main Powerline unit to the broadband router, and the larger repeater unit to a front room 13A wall socket. Then connected the unit to a `Now TV` box via the provided ethernet cable. (The Now TV is then connected to the TV's hdmi socket, and voila, a Smart TV!. You can also connect Now TV by wireless signal, though Ethernet gives a stronger signal.)That`s just an indication of how well the units perform, as I had minimal TV interruption using these units. You can also use this stronger broadband signal for your laptop/pc/tablet at the same time. Not found any problems so far, but only had these for 6 weeks, so time will tell! One thing, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! The repeater unit will set up its own wireless network, unless you set it up to `clone` your original network. I had to use a couple of goes to get it to do this, so don`t give up! When you do clone it, keep both units close to each other, so you don`t have to keep running between them. Finally you can then move the repeater to wherever you wish in the house. Worked for me.

Clone your IP address with this brilliant product.
I have spent more than a year trying to boost my broadband bandwidth at the far end of the house furthest away from my router and miserably failed each time.As I am with Sky I tried their signal extender but without much success. The trouble with an extender is that if you locate it at a point in your home where you can still have lets say approx 50% signal from the router then the extender will only extend the signal from that initial starting strength of just 50% of what the router is capable of if you were next to it - so when you move away from the extender and say you lose another 15%, you only have a signal of 35% of what is available at the router. If on the other hand you use an IP clone device which this TP-Link model is capable of then WOW what a difference! The WIFI is carried to the slave unit using your household mains wiring so subject to a fractional loss due to the clever electronics inside the TP-Link unit you achieve an almost direct connection. In fact, daft as it may seem, I can achieve higher download speeds in my bedroom where I have placed the Slave unit than I can when in the same room as the router itself.I can only account for this with two possibilities: 1. that the TP-Link slave unit has a better WIFI radio transmitter than my router or that I am actually closer to the transmitter in my bedroom than I am to my router in my lounge. Whatever, the reason I have been blown away with the results. There can be some technical aspects you may need to get involved with when first setting the unit up if you want to tweak the settings which the menu allows you to do via a local URL address but if you want an easy start then it can be as simple as just pressing a couple of buttons and waiting for the master unit to register and then the slave unit to register. The end results have been well worth the cost of purchase because I have raised by bandwidth at the far end of the house from a previous ADSL maximum download speed of 5Mb to 14Mb and above which is the same as I acheive when testing directly on a cable connection to the router. (To be fair, I had previously optimised my system by placing my router directly connected to the Telephone line point of entry to the property and used the shortest connection lead possible - this act alone had previously doubled my bandwidth from when I previously had the router connected to a very long lead from the telephone entry point so it could be placed next to my PC.However, nothing has worked so far as amazingly as the TP-Link units. You can also add additional units later if you want to as well but as I still had my Sky Extender I decided to let that wirelessly connect to the cloned signal in my bedroom and now I can even manange a 5 MB bandwidth download speed at the bottom of my garden too. I am a very happy bunny who spent too long looking for the answer when it was here all along. NB: This review is specifically about the clone IP function of the device not the extender function which will not be as good.
