Quality Item
I ordered the complete model with insulation and thermal cover. The item was easy to install, and fit exactly to my attic stair. You can feel the dramatic difference it makes as far as preventing cold in/hot air out through the attic stair. It is easy to move aside and then reinstall any time you wish to go in or out of the attic. While it may be a good value and do exactly as promised, I have to laugh since it probably cost about $10 to produce. If insulating the attic stair is your desire, this is the product for you.

Overpriced but worth it - does that make sense?!?!?
This product works, PERIOD! I have been using it now for about a month, winter months, and it really has blocked the cold air from coming into the hallway. When you open the door to the attic and you pop the Battic Door off the temperature difference is amazing. The quality of the product I would rate as ok to good. Like may others say its just a box, insulation and reflective shield, but the package put together is great, and more complicated than just putting the three together. There is no guess work its very simple to set up. Takes 20 minutes. I would suggest adding insulation to the sides, which is optional. So overall I would recommend this product for the person who says, "I could make that, I'll do it next week honey", because your never going to do it, or if when you do try to make you will realize it may not be that easy. Its an effective solution to insulating the attic door, which for me has really made a difference in my hallway temperature and my heating bill.

Good product idea, mediocre quality
The product consists of a cardboard box, a sheath of reflective material and two stips of batting insulation. The box was torn & the tabs would't stay in their slots. The seller sent another box promptly - also torn. I wrote the seller, who said the box was still ok even if it was torn & didn't send another. Good product idea, mediocre quality, prompt email response but no intention to improve. On the plus side, it was quick and easy to put together, and, albeit the box needs some reinforcement to be able to last (I will tape the torn sections and the edges of the box to make them more durable). If the quality were better, I'd recommend purchasing it since the functionality you get for the time and money invested is a decent trade off.

A Good Product
This product works. It was easy to decide on which size to order by following on line instructions. Install was also easy. Fit like a glove in opening. Haven't seen lower AC costs but in South Louisianna you can tell if it made a difference just by room temp. I can tell you that it has made a difference. Product arrived undamaged as well. I would highly recommend

Warm breeze
The Attic stair cover was shipped in two separate packages that assembled quite easily. The outer reflective cover fit snug around the cardboard frame. The whole box dropped into place even though We have an extremely small attic space. I noticed an immediate change because there was no more draft by the stair trap door, and the tempature is much more comfortable in the room. I definitely would recommend installing this product.

Useless eco-wannabe
My carbon footprint is worse, not better. The widest stair cover still isn't wide enough for the size of attic stairs we use here in Houston. In fact I think you will probably find it difficult to get a good fit in most homes even if the attic gap is 25 inches. Instead you will wind up with a bad seal and something that doesn't deliver on its promises. A better solution would be to mount an inch of styrofoam on the top of your attic door and don't polute the environment by bringing into existence this bit of waste sold here. You'll get just as much insulation out of it.

They saw me coming!
The basic unit, which sells separately for I believe $29.95, is nothing more than a cardboard box! What a bargain! In their ad they show people standing on the box. What a scam pic that is. Would be a good way to crush it but at least they tell you not to stand on it, but why not guys, you advertise it as having that kind of strength!? Then for the remaining $70 you get a silver reflective shield (does it stop kryptonite?) and a couple pieces of fiberglass, all probably worth not much more than a few dollars. Oh, I almost forgot the few feet worth of cheap weather stripping they also include. It's cumbersome to have to lift in and out of place everytime you go into the attic. Bottom line...save your money and look for something that is at least worth what you are spending. Guess they saw me coming!!

Takes some effort to construct properly
The attic ladder cover in theory is a great idea and it fits the opening great but there are some improvements needed. For starters, the reflective cover needs to be taped to the inside of the box otherwise it falls off. Secondly the seams of the cover need to be reinforced with tape as they are a weak spot that wants to split. Lastly if the item were made out of thin plastic instead of cardboard, it would allow for some anchor points to tie it down and make a tight seal to the weather stripping.
