Metra XSVI-9003-NAV Non-Amplified Non-OnStar Harness to Retain Accessory Power

Used when replacing head unit in '06 VW Jetta. Proprietary German wiring requires adapters to fit after-market parts. Wiring colours matched perfectly to the new head unit. Pay particular attention to the instructions for initializing the adapter. I had some issues after installation as I didn't follow them correctly. This lead to the radio having no power the next morning. Disconnected battery for 30 secs and everything worked again, but it kept happening intermittently, and I have to keep going through radio set up menus. Contacted support and they were great. Here is their email: [email protected] Advice copied from the email they sent me: I would start the whole process over again by putting the factory radio back in, closing all entry points, and starting the car. Then turn the radio off, take the key out of the ignition fully, open and close the drivers door. Remove the radio, install the XSVI and aftermarket radio, turn the key to ignition for thirty seconds, take the key fully out, and open and close the drivers door. Start the car and reinspect, then advise back on the results. It also may be a good idea to check all connections, and harness' for them slipping slightly loose. It sounds like you just have a glitch in the vehicle. Advice followed (shouldn't have been so impatient!) and everything working well. Recommended.

Everything works my only criticism would be it doesn't actually restore factory function but it's close. With the original radio it was able to stay on with the key out as long as you didn't open the door. Once you opened the door the radio would shut off. This set up is slightly different but works great for what I need. It shuts off the radio after removing the key which works for me to avoid battery drain. Overall I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

I installed a Pioneer stereo on my MKIV VW Jetta and I realized that VW required a special harness for the stereo to turn off with the ignition. I bought this because I dont always want to manually turn off the stereo every time I get out of the car. Installation was a little difficult at first but it's pretty straight forward once you see how the wires go. After installation, I was expecting the stereo to turn off when the ignition is off like the oem stereo but it stays on until you lock the vehicle. Not a big issue though. This harness is well worth its price for the job its supposed to do.
