Smells like real Sandalwood!
Let me start this review with, I consider myself an incense Snob! I prefer Indian Masala sticks and almost never buy the black charcoal type of incense. Most of them have too much black smoke and seem too strongly scented with artificial perfume smells for my preference. I go through 20-30 sticks a day and lately prefer to burn only Sandalwood. However, I was not real happy with a lot of the Sandalwoods out there so I’ve been on a mission to find just the right scent for me! This Chandan by Kanaiya is definitely one of the best! Not too smoky, slow burn, lights easy and not too “sweet”! Great!!! Also, not too pricey! Not too strong but not too mellow. Smells like REAL Sandalwood! Wonderful!!! Thank you to the last reviewers who talked me into trying it!

I like sandalwood incense a lot
I like sandalwood incense a lot, and this particular kind smells amazing. It isn't super potent and strong, which is what I prefer. It doesn't make the whole floor of the house smell strongly of incense, mostly just the area I am burning the incense in . The price you pay for the quantity you get cannot be argued with. (7.15 USD for 120 sticks) Please note however it is an add on item. Two complaints: the sticks are a little floppy and burn kind of quickly. I used very high quality incense previous to this purchase so I probably have higher standards for incense now. The floppiness is an issue because i burn my incense in a small flower pot filled halfway with dirt. So when it burns the ash falls onto the floor instead of in the pot. That's an issue I didn't have with the stiffer sticks. Overall it's a pretty descent product especially for the price.

I warmed up to it.
The first time I used this incense, I noticed a distinct fig note that I had never smelled in a sandalwood blend before. After using it a few more times, I have grown to like it a lot. Maybe too much, because I am burning through it kind of fast. I like it better than the more resinous Precious Chandan blend, but not as much as my personal fave Sandalo. I will definitely get this Chandan again though.

I sent these as Happy Christ Resurrection Day (Happy Easter) to friends and family members. Everyone loves the purifying smell of these better than other brands. We give a 4 rating instead of a 5 because the package had been opened and the tape on the box appeared to have been tampered with by someone. The incence quality, however, rates a solid 5 and is perfect for praise, prayer and meditation.

This is nothing like Sandalwood incense - going back to Satya brand
I have purchased Sandalwood incense by Satya for many years, and i have always enjoyed its unique fragrance. But I thought I would try a different brand for a change - not due to price; just looking to see what else is available. The awful excuse for incense I am reviewing has convinced me to stick with what I know and love. Had I seen that the Kanaiya brand (top of photo) incense was black, I wouldn't have purchased it. The reason for this is that my experience with black incense is that it is very "perfum-ey", and it seldom represents the scent it is supposed to give off when burning. This incense is no different; it not only emits a very strong unpleasant perfume-like odor, but it also burns fast (relative to what I am used to) and gives off a black smoke. In conclusion, if you are looking for some cheap, but very strong incense with a generic scent to cover the odor from, say, a just-dispatched zombie, or worse, a teenage boy's room, then this may be right for you. If, on the other hand, you are looking for the lovely scent of burning sandalwood, then I suggest you try the Satya brand (or similar) that is a tan color.
