Assembly required
This is a complicated product. It's a well designed product and works well. It requires shipment in four (4) very large and heavy boxes. It requires a lot of time to be assembled. The assembly instructions are excellent, and come in several languages. If you have experience putting together Legos, you can manage this (much larger scale) project. I was able to do the whole production by myself without anyone helping me. This required removing the parts from the boxes and carrying them into my house (and upstairs) carefully. Three boxes arrived and I had no idea there was a fourth box, so I contacted the vendor, who got back to me quickly to let me know the 4th box was going to arrive a few days later. This must be a very complicated item for the seller to manage. There's really no easy way to send this back, or even to discard it. The bed has gas springs that help you lift it up and down, into and out of the cabinet. It would be a challenge to manage otherwise, or of the springs stop working. Those springs make for an assembly challenge, since the bed won't stay down while partially complete. I had to sit on the frame while assembling it. You might be able to hold it down with cynder blocks or something similarly dense and heavy. Or you could build it with two people, which is probably the best way, if you can find someone with the patience for it. The bed is high when assembled, as in the height of the cabinet. You should measure the height of your ceiling before you order it. I didn't measure and it barely fit. I had to remove the (1/4") feet from the bed in order to get it to fit. That's tight!

You get what you pay for
Okay, so first off I will say that for occasional use I am confident this wall bed will work fine for my purposes (it will be used maybe 18-24 times a year). What I *do* like about it: 1) It is, by far, the least expensive wall bed option I could find that looked safe - and having installed it I still feel that way. 2) Slightly nicer looking trim and finishes that other options on the lower end of pricing 3) Parts of the design related to assembly are really well thought out (other parts, not so much) 4) It fits a larger (thicker) mattress than many wall beds, which was important to me What I *do not* like about it: 1) Getting this thing to look *good* is not easy, and the final fit/finish is not as polished as I was expecting. No, it was not because of my assembly skills. There is a substantial gap built into the design on the sides of the upright bed panels - this allows for a less than perfect assembly and probably helps prevent issues related to the bed sticking if any warping or bending happens over time. There are a couple of rubberized "flaps" that you screw in to the back sides to sort of cover the gaps, these flap things, along with the way they are installed, were a really poor design choice in my opinion. 2) Packaging: Overall the product is package well to keep it safe during transport - except for the two main exterior panels - you know, the ones that are the most visible. Mine arrived with one corner crushed in about 1cm (roughly 1/2 an inch). The damage is only visible when the bed is open, and I decided it was not worth waiting for, or dealing with the hassle of, getting a replacement (assuming they would send one). In any event, that box needed better reinforcement. The two panels are *really* heavy. I watched the FedX guy unload those and he was struggling bad even with it on the dolly. I had the same issue, even with a really nice appliance dolly. I ended up leaving the box in the garage and taking in the panels individually. 3) The handle hardware (the things you grab to pull the bed down) are made of the cheapest material they could find. 2 of the 4 cabinet screws they included had the heads of the screw pop off during installation (using a regular handheld screwdriver). There were zero extras in the box, fortunately I had a bunch of cabinet screws leftover from a recent kitchen remodel. The handles themselves are super lightweight and do not feel very sturdy. 4) The instructions are not terrible, but they are far from good. Figuring out which hardware (bolts, nuts, etc) went where was a little challenging as about 1/2 of them are not actually labeled with a part number anywhere (not even in the package they come in) - so much of it is just mixed together. Overall thoughts and impressions: If you need an inexpensive wall bed option for occasional use, this fits the bill. If you need a wall bed for regular use, I would highly recommend you keep looking. I do not believe this thing would stand up to daily use for very long. Note, that you really do *Need* 2 people to put this together. It just isn't safe for one person to do it alone. I am still happy I selected this thing, and I know there are a lot of negatives here, but I wanted to be thorough so people know what they are getting into.

Easy to raise and lower, a great use of space.
This Murphy bed was a great choice for our very small (11x11) guest bedroom, that doubles as an office space. We added our own side tables and secured them to the bed. Our guests find the bed comfortable. I find it easy to transform the room. The desk is on wheels so we just roll it into another room, bring down the bed, and add pillows. It's very easy to raise and lower the bed. We've had it for 3 years, and we just sold the house. Sadly for us, it will stay since it's built in. The buyers are thrilled! I do plan on purchasing this bed again for our new house. It's so nice to have a guest room for when you need it, but that room doesn't have to sit empty when you don't have guests. One word of caution: it was a chore putting this thing together. It took my husband a whole weekend, with help. He is very handy. This is not an amateur project. Get help! It is worth the effort though!

Perfect to transform our guest room from office to bedroom in a flash
If you're on the hunt for a space-saving solution that doesn't compromise on style or functionality, look no further than the BESTAR Pur 65W Queen Murphy Bed in White. This piece of furniture has proven to be a game-changer in optimizing my living space, and I couldn't be more thrilled with its performance. First and foremost, let's talk about space efficiency. The Murphy bed design is a genius solution for those with limited space. The ability to fold the bed into the wall when not in use has transformed my room into a multifunctional space. During the day, I have a spacious and inviting living area, and at night, with a simple pull-down, I have a comfortable and roomy queen-sized bed. It's like magic! The cost-effectiveness of this Murphy bed is another standout feature. Compared to the cost of a traditional bed frame and mattress, the BESTAR Pur 65W offers incredible value. The quality of the materials used and the sturdy construction make it clear that this is an investment that will last. I appreciate the affordability without sacrificing durability or aesthetics. Functionality is where this Murphy bed truly shines. The smooth mechanism makes transitioning between day and night modes effortless. The integrated storage shelves are a thoughtful touch, providing space for books, decor, or personal items. The clean white finish adds a modern and fresh look to the room, seamlessly blending with any decor style. Assembling the Murphy bed was surprisingly straightforward, thanks to the clear instructions provided. The attention to detail in the design and engineering is evident, making the assembly process smooth and hassle-free. In conclusion, the BESTAR Pur 65W Queen Murphy Bed in White is a space-saving marvel that ticks all the boxes โ space efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and functionality. It has exceeded my expectations.

Terrible experience, very disappointed, BESTAR Model 26184-4, Color 0017
Five parts were damaged when the original shipment was received (including the two large front facing facades). Three additional shipments were sent until all parts were replaced (each shipment contained at least two new facades). When the call was made to report the first shipment being damaged, I asked if BESTAR would have the existing shipment hauled away, they said no. In the end I had six facades and other damaged parts laying in my garage for which I had to cut down for the garbage service to haul away. At one point I was told the replacement shipment would be sent after I returned from out of town (as discussed via multiple chat sessions with Lucy at BESTAR). To my surprise, one shipment was sitting upright on my porch when I returned (sitting for a day or two on the porch). While that part was not damaged as the other facades that were sent, it was warped. In some cases, the video instruction of the install was not in-line with the instructions. In fact, the instructions themselves are misleading in a few areas. For example, referring to step 9 on installing the metal base such that it touches the two wooden dowels on each side; while this step worked, the moment you swing the bed frame up, the base (after being attached to the wall and floor) does not align against the pins any longer. It is my opinion after trying several times to get the alignment correct (and could not), that this movement is part of the design as the caps that install over the strut bolts (later in step 22) would not fit if the frame stayed against the dowels per the instruction; yet the instruction says nothing about the alignment moving (so trying several times to get the base to realign against the pins is futile). Another example, the small shelf (part 83) is installed such that it is resting on dowels of part 70 rather than being drilled to fit over the dowels (steps 2 and 3 parts 83 and 70). This results in the shelf sagging when the unit is complete, a few 90-degree brackets on the back were required to address this. And another example, step 25 states to install part 80 which is prior to installing the facades. However, you cannot mount the facades with part 80 installed. Fortunately, it is removable, but the instruction says nothing about removing it before lifting the heavy facades. The quality of the laminate application is not very good. In several places it was never painted and shows a yellowish color (not white), several of the edges are peeled off, the gaps between the boards looks poor, and when closing the bed the screw head on the leg (installed in step 21) rubs the white frame damaging the laminate; in this case the bed frame could not be aligned to center (even when following the NOTICE in step 19 and removing and adjusting the bed frame). Also note that once the faรงades are installed, you cannot move the bed left to right to address this without removing the facades (which then requires reinstalling the facades by drilling new holes through the frame). Finally, I have a 12-inch 70 lb mattress and when closed the mattress slides down immediately (even with the velcro wrap engaged and the short KI-985-E supports installed) and gets caught on the shelf (part 70) such that you cannot open the bed unless you lift the mattress out while pulling the bed down, a 2-person job.

Great Purchase
Before deciding on this murphy bed I read a lot of the reviews. And while it was time consuming and a bit difficult to put together the end result is perfect. Opens and closes with ease, had no issues with missing parts or damaged pieces and it was delivered earlier than expected which was plus for my time crunch. I am very happy with this purchase!

Arrived damaged.
I do not like when people bundle a review about delivery in with the review of the item, but in the case of heavy shipped furniture, you almost have to as delivery is part of a product like this. This was shipped Fed Ex which already tells you the experience was bad. They left one super-heavy part wedged on our porch against our door which meant we could not get out - at all. At all. Had to go around and out through our back door - luckily we have one or we'd have been climbing out a window. My upstairs neighbor, however, was totally blocked inside his apartment - he had no way out. Really bad decision on the delivery person's part. It was also delivered days early which would normally be a good thing, but not when it's furniture and you need help with it! It was delivered totally without notice or warning. Luckily we were home - because a drop of rain and the whole bed would have dissolved, since it's all particle board and SUPER heavy. The upper corner of the right door and the front (visible) edge of the left side of the bed were both dented in and because it is particle board, it really shows. But the likelihood of receiving undamaged replacement parts, plus the difficulties of returning it, made us decide to keep it. We used Bondo and paint to fix the dings and hopefully it will hold up to occasional use. It took my husband - an engineer - two full days to assemble this bed, with help in lifting the heavier pieces. Don't even try to do it alone. Once assembled, it looks fine and works smoothly. It fits our 12" thick Tuft & Needle memory foam bed perfectly - that was actually reason for buying this particular bed, it allows for a thicker mattress than many we found, and our guest mattress was relatively new so we wanted to use it. We paid $1499 for this bed. I see it is now over $1800 and it's only been a few days since we bought it. I would NOT pay that much for this! At $1500 it is iffy, at $1800+ it's way over-priced.

Expect three large, heavy packages, and to allocate a few hours to assemble.
It's heavy, it takes a lot of work to put it together, and the instructions were sometimes vague, but I did it all without any help. The quality is excellent, and it looks and functions perfectly
