WHAT YOU WANT IS CALLED A NADA CHAIR
Let me preface this by saying I was at a retreat with a Tibetan monk and I asked him if he would show me how to use a meditation belt.He said, "There has never been a great Tibetan master who did not use a belt. They all do. Then he showed me how to do it.Belts aren't some kind of oddity or gimmick. They are intrinsic and absolutely can improve things dramatically.Later I bought something from this same Tibetan center called a "Nada Chair" that's designed by westerners for sitting in fishing boats and on uncomfortable stadium benches. The Nada Belt is at least twenty-times better than this product. It does cost a little more. You can also look for one on ebay. They have a clip where you can clip your knees together after you get it on but obviously you wouldn't want to do that, you just slip it around your knees and lower back while you're on a cushion. It works so well that you can take it outside and just sit on a blanket or whatever, that's how much lower back support it gives.I wanted to like this Padma belt device but it just doesn't give hardly any lower back support. I gave it two stars because I'm not a mean-spirited person and I know somewhere someone has poured their life's blood into this. It just isn't that effective.

if i am correct about how good this strap is
it is somewhat shocking that this type of product hasn't proliferated around all meditation and yoga centers yet. if i am correct about how good this strap is, i believe it eventually spread around all meditation centers, just as many of them have cusions of all sorts and sometimes various props.1) i came to this product years after getting into meditation. I am VERY skeptical of props and such in meditation . my experience is that proper back allignment is necessary to achieve a truly calm yet active state of mind. corpse pose and seated poses do not allow my mind to focus. i need to be in a sitting legs crossed pose. I also don't like legs under pose, childs pose, or using the wooden zen bench pose. for me my hips must spread out for spine to be alligned to achieve the particular calm but vigilant mind.2) when i first started meditating i had tried using sheets to wrap myself. 'wrapping' is a well known practice to help get back support when in lotus or burmese pose. i had hurt my back ---which made it far more difficult to meditate without distraction, as well as simply to sit for extended periods without overbearing pain. i have tried MANY THINGS. and then basically gave up meditating for years because of the hopeless low quality of my sitting sessions. i went online recently to look exactly for some sort of brace, and i found this product. like magic.3) this product fits me perfectly as a i sized myself according to their instructions. the fabric creates a pit to surround each knee and this creates a lot of stability . the back side wraps nicely around the back. the straps come from the knee parts to stretch across and lock in making a perfect and simply triangle connection, locking you in snuglly but only as tightly as you want.4) the strap is simple and robust and easily adjusted with one hand while in mediation pose. the total package size and weight makes this truly transportable. you could carry the entire thing in a large pocket, easily in a small purse.5) it's a true shame amazon doesn't have videos to demonstrate how a product is used in action.6) this product is perfect for anyone starting out in meditation, or for people like me with back problems. it DOES NOT act as a seat or a cushion . it acts to help you adjust your own position to the best of your abilities while making use of your own abdominals and back muscles to allign your spine as you normally might do without the product.

Great Seat, Great Service
Very well designed easy to use seat. And as importantly (or maybe more), great customer service!!I ordered a small first, but it was a bit too snug. I upsized to a medium and it's perfect. Note the folks at Blissful Buddha sent out the medium before I even returned the small. Now THAT is customer service! When selecting a size as recommended by the maker, I suggest measuring from the bottom of your kneecaps rather than the top or middle. Had I done that I'd have selected the medium the first time.Highly recommend this!

Wonderful!
This is awesome! For those of us with a little less flexibility and/or weaker back/abdominal muscles this is the best I've found. I've used other methods of supporting myself for long meditations but this is wonderful. It appears to be strong, like parachute material and folds into a very tiny little sack. It supports you like being held in swaddling, fully supported and yet somehow unencumbered. Time will tell how it holds up since I've just begun to use it. It certainly seems very sturdy and it's pretty to boot! I would recommend this to anyone that needs support while sitting in meditation!

I love this thing.
Seriously, I love this thing. It took a few minutes to figure out exactly how to adjust the seat and my posture for optimal comfort. But once I did.... aaaaaahhhhh. Sitting in the Padma seat feels so natural. I feel assisted, but not restrained. And the lumbar support is just enough. I use it for my daily practice while sitting on my yoga mat, a zabuton, or just on the carpet. I'm a 6" tall guy with fairly long legs, and size large gives me plenty of room for adjustment.

Who would have thought???
I was skeptical at first but I have knees and hips that frequently make it difficult for me to meditate for long periods of time. I got this strap and now at last I am able to sit without discomfort. My tip is to measure carefully because it does come in different sizes. There is a guide to tell you how to measure and it worked perfectly for me.

The idea of this is great but it doesn't execute well
The idea of this is great but it doesn't execute well. I havent been able to find a comfortable position with it. Maybe because I have a thicker bottom but the back of the seat is constantly rolling down and then doesn't give support. I can sometimes get it to work for a bit before that starts happening but I haven't been able to use this like I had hoped.

Wonderful support for legs!
This is a truly wonderful solution for the discomfort in my hips and knees when I am not in my home meditation space. I was really surprised at the relief it provided. I will probably order a second one in the near future. Make sure to pay attention to the sizing to get the optimum benefit.
