Great lessons and coloring pages. Exceeded my expectations. Learned so much

I have experienced the invisibility of the deaf community. I have needed a teacher to help me understand needs I have never known. I was born with white skin. I have needed many teachers to help me understand the impact of living in a dark skinned body. This book does both. It provides history that is accurate to the Black and Deaf experience, none of which I was taught in my many years of education. It is done simply, and can be appreciated as a coloring book offering an education when a parent/grandparent/family/friend reads the stories that go with the drawings or ASL signs that can be colored and learned. It is a gentle, loving teaching about some very difficult situations and stories in our history. I would like the written words to be larger for younger children to be able to read with more ease, though I realize that may result in more pages and more art work for the fine artist who did the drawing to accompany the incredible story the writer tells.

I’m truly impressed with this educational coloring activity book! Great resources to touch base with Deaf/Hard of hearing learners about Black Deaf life, history, culture and Black American Sign Language (BASL). Worth buying! This book funds will donate to the National Black Deaf Advocates' scholarships, financially supports research focused on the education for Black Deaf people, and other Black Deaf community based initiatives.Go get yours!

This work is so thoughtful and important. I am looking forward to buying this for all the children in my life. I think it will go a long way towards teaching them awareness and compassion for kids they meet who are deaf or hard of hearing. I think it will also help teach them our history that schools neglect to teach. Well done!

I love “Black Deaf Lives Matter” not because I created pictures but simply because I am enlightened, fascinated, and inspired by that well informative book. It increases my knowledge of the Black Deaf history. I highly recommend that you get that activity book - great for reading, writing, drawing, or/and playing.

This coloring book is an awesome way to teach kiddos about different ways people communicate! As a white hearing family, this was a wonderful resource to help our kiddo understand the diverse aspects of Black Deaf culture and language.

This is an excellent book for kids because it provides interesting, pertinent, and accurate information - while also providing engaging, fun activities. It's beautifully written and illustrated. Kudos to the creators for filling a void.
