Works good for it's purpose
I got this splitter to mount and hide a GPS under the dash. That part this splitter serves it's purpose well. I had trouble with the new mounting bracket being too wide to fit in the recessed notch the original OBD bracket fit in. I had to slightly relocate the new bracket and use longer screws. I have a '08 Ford Ranger so this minor problem might be specific to just this vehicle. I also had to mount the new bracket first then insert the new OBD plug, otherwise the plug would block the screw holes. If it wasn't for the bracket problem, especially it being made out of plastic, I would have added an extra star. The splitter appears to be well made. The cables are nice and thick, maybe too thick. I had to line up the cable to the new bracket pretty straight or else it looked like there could too much strain on the plastic bracket and maybe come loose. The other end I just put in a loose coil and zip tied up in the dash.So far I'm very pleased with this splitter, it's doing what I got it for. I can't say if this will affect getting a smog test or not as it's not due for quite awhile yet. When that time comes I'll try to remember to update.Update Aug '19: I had smog done not too long ago and had no problem at with this splitter installed. I added a extra star because of that.

Just OK. Didn't work on my older car.
This didn't work for me. Whenever I had two dongles connected the performance on both suffered. This could be because I have a 2003 car and the OBD2 port is only designed to hold a single dongle. As far as the cable itself, I liked the 90 degree angle plug that plugs into the car OBD reader. The cables for the splitters are long enough however on one side the wires on one of the splitters to the female OBD2 connector were not covered. It was designed that way and I don't understand why. That said this may work fine in a newer car where the OBD2 reader gets more power, or if the device doesn't require a lot of power. It didn't work for me, but it might for someone else.

I couldn't take emissions because the prongs were some how broken off my old port and wouldn't fit secure in the bracket. Emissions will not pass you if port is not secure in bracket. It can be loose but can't pop out of bracket. The adapter with the prongs on it, popped right into existing bracket. Didn't need bracket that came with product. This was an quick and cheap fix. Yay! I passed emissions.

Not durable
What attracted me to this was the way you could mount the bracket and conceal the remainder of the unit, giving it a stock look. Well...it did't work as planned. The bracket is plastic and very flimsy. It actually couldn't take the weight of the smog scanner plug at the emissions station and cracked. It doesn't work as planned, either.I'll try a different brand/type now.

Used equipment
Just as described but mine came used, you can see where it was previously used with marks where it was plugged in and also dirty. Was going to send back for another but didn't want to have to wait another week or two.

Waste of Money
The one wire that I needed was broke when I took it out of the package. It was a couple of weeks from when I bought it to when I noticed that the wire was broke. I did contact the seller & all I heard was the crickets from my backyard. They will defiantly go on the "not to do business with" list. I had had to buy another unit to complete the job.

Quality Cables, But Bracket is Plastic and No Screws
The OBDII connector on my 2008 335xi snapped off its mounting bracket and was just dangling. I bought this mainly for the bracket. The bracket fits the original mounting holes. I was actually expecting a metal bracket, as this one is plastic. So, hopefully it holds up. I also wish it came with screws. These are thick high quality cables and the 2nd male does indeed fit through the bracket.

Works great and really good price
Was able to fit this to existing mounting bracket on my 2016 Silverado 2500 diesel and tuck connections up under the dash. Used to hook up AMP research power steps. Works great and really good price.
