The menu is basically the same where you can choose to sing solo or go into party mode and sing with up to 8 players. You can record yourself, if you have the camera, and upload it to the community section. Songs can be added via the Singstore and you will find a healthy selection there of around 1,000 tracks. If you don't have or want the microphones then you can use your mobile by downloading an app to your phone. This turns your mobile into a microphone.The more experienced Singstar player will approach this with caution after the botched release of the Singstars previous release 'Ultimate Party'. There were several issues with that release that made more than a few people angry. So, is this any better?Yes, it is.When you put the disc in there is a small update to download. After this you are up and running.. The sound level of the music tracks are much improved. The previous release was very quiet except for the moment when the score was added up. I always turned down the tv for that moment as that was LOUD. Here, that has been corrected.There is practically no lag. The pitch you are singing appears on the screen immediately.There is no ps3 version of this disc. I thought that maybe it had something to do with 'playlink' - a new type of interaction with some sony games. However, I see no difference when playing the game. It seems adding a mobile option to the game makes it a Playlink game.I gave this four stars as it played with no problems at all. The fifth star was lost just on the music content. I already owned several of these tracks which I had bought from the singstore.I do recommend this. The problems of the previous release are happily absent from this version. Let's hope the singstore is updated now a bit more regularly.UPDATE 06.02.2018Just thought that you folks should know that, after 4 months, Singstar hasn't added anything to their Singstore. Now this was meant to be a relaunch but without those essential updates you will be limited to what's available. On the PS3 the updates appeared every 2 weeks and contained between 10 - 15 tracks. It seems those days are long gone. Shame really.UPDATE 05.12.2018It's been 14 months since this was released and no new songs have been added to the store. New songs are required to keep the game alive. The website is still active. You can buy songs on there and people are uploading their singstar performances for you to watch. The forum page however just has the occasional visitor which is a far cry from when singstar did regular updates.So, Singstar isn't dead but it ain't far from it.UPDATE 26.05.2019Absolutely nothing has changed. No new songs and no updates to the game. The Singstore is still open for you to buy extra tracks and people are still uploading their performances. The traffic to the site is beginning to slow down which is to be expected with a game that hasn't added anything in 2 years. I think it's over for Singstar but I will keep playing it until my consoles - PS3 and PS4 - pack up and die on me.UPDATE 01.11.2019Well, its now official. I just had an email from Sony stating the Singstar servers will be shut down on 31.01.2020. After this date you will NOT be able to purchase any more songs. All online activities will cease. This means you can't upload or view performances, do online challenges etc. What you have already purchased on disc or downloaded will be fine. It was great while it lasted folks but this is really the end.

Having played a friend's PS3 version of this years back, once I took ownership of a shiny PS4 it was one of the games I craved. I must admit to being a tiny bit disappointed as I being a middle-aged fogey, I didn't realised that I wouldn't recommend the majority of the tracks and to date, my young son, ten, hasn't been persuaded to play. I do like the fact that I can download the PlayStation microphone app onto my Android smartphone and negate the need to purchase additional hardware such as the PS compatible microphones. That said, I'll continue to keep the windows open and sing my heart out; I'm sure my neighbours are fine with this approach :)The price was excellent and the delivery, swift.

Product arrived safe, but at no point in the description there was a warning saying that singstar was discontinued by Sony, this means that its not possible to obtain new songs at all!!This is a huge disappointment as it's stating in the description that a feature of the game is to be possible to download new songs!! Only realised this after opening the package and trying to get a new song, very disappointed

Really love this game, being able to use mobile phones as mics is a great idea.But...and this is a big but, the game comes with less than 30 songs including free downloads. The rest are available at a cost - around 600 at time of writing - BUT AT A COST OF £1.15 PER TRACK!

Bought this for my boyfriends birthday and it's been really good - the songs have music videos on in the background which is fun to watch and it's great competing with each other to get the best score! The store also has lots of songs to choose from and they are only an extra £1 or so each so there is plenty of options and songs for everyone! I bought microphones separately to go with the game so haven't tried it using the app.
