BUY THIS You wonโt go wrong. There's just too much to love about this trumpet.
This trumpet is beautifully made. Bought it for my 8 yo daughter who had a Prelude TR711 which we arenโt too happy about. This came nicely packaged with two white gloves, a polishing cloth, valve oil, a Jean Paul 7c mouthpiece, plus a maintenance book which other trumpets donโt usually come with. These are all big pluses. The black canvas carrying case is accented with faux leather handles. The bag alone weighs a bit under 3 lbs which is light but sturdy and water resistant. It has removable and adjustable bag straps to convert the canvas carrying case into a back pack or you can carry it with shoulder straps or take the straps off completely and just hand carry it with its faux leather handles. The carrying case has a big front pocket for extra storage. This Jean Paul TR-430 is much lighter than the Prelude TR-711 so it is easier to handle yet sounds so much better too. A mouthpiece holder is built into case.Another great thing about this TR430 Jean Paul trumpet is that the valves are very responsive. It bounces back so much quickly compared to most trumpets we have seen in the market. It might be because of lighter materials which incredibly helps without compromising sound quality. It has two spit valves with clear rubber stoppers where other trumpets have cork stoppers on their spit valves which wear out and rot then fall off overtime. I like the clear rubber on the spit valve. It makes its much more classy, much more hygienic and it is the little details such as this that tells you they put a lot of thought into their product. The shipping was also fast. Faster than I expected. I didnโt purchase it with prime so delivery was suppose to take 5-10 days. But as I watch the tracking via UPS ground, delivery took the shortest time possible which was only 4 days. I placed my order Sunday afternoon. Received the trumpet Thursday. That was fast. There are so many reasons to love this trumpet. But to top it all off, they have the best support in the industry. There is always somebody ready to help you on the other line. You have a question, just unsure of what trumpet to get or perhaps a problem with your trumpet, they are always there for their customers.I spoke with Enrique from Jean Paul and he gave me his cell phone number so I can get in touch with him regardless of where he is (in vacation) or what time of day it is (at night or on his day off) just to make sure I can reach him if I am not happy or if thereโs a problem with my purchase. They go the extra mile with sincerity. And that sold me. I was considering to purchase a Bach and the manufacturer says the support covered by the warranty is provided by the dealer. And when I met with our local dealer in person they told us they only cover 90 days of warranty. The trumpet theyโre selling us had very slow valves and that isnโt covered by the warranty regardless of how much proper cleaning and oiling we did. Our local dealer although we dealt with them in person were very impersonal and indifferent. Jean Paul maybe be across the miles, we may be states apart but they treat you like family. They make you feel that theyโre right there ready to help you at any time. The product sells itself. But their support is even better.UPDATE:We have this trumpet for 3 years now. Bought it in 2018 and now it's 2021.Service is excellent. We have lost an ivory button for the valves and and the rubber pad for the spit valve also came off and lost it. They have mailed us replacements for the PARTS at NO CHARGE just pay for shipping costs. Thank you JEAN PAUL USA!!!

Amazing instrument for the price
I purchased this Trumpet for my son who was starting his journey into music at the start of the school year. We haven't completed a full semester yet. But already I can tell you everyone that's seen this horn has been surprised. It's built well, handily withstood the abuse of an elementary student. There are no points on the horn that feel week or soft. It sounds great. And while I'm not qualified to rate this instrument on a professional scale, the teachers involved with my son's education all have nothing but good things to say as well. All for a price that was about the same as a used horn elsewhere. My wife is involved in the local Band Booster, she's been recommending Jean Paul instruments to any parents she can reach as a result. I've had a long personal conversation with the individual that handles warranties. And I'm happy to report even the business practices internally are solid.Support this small business folks, this is the real deal. A good family providing good instruments for a good price.*Original Review: October 6, 2018*Updated Review: January 13, 2021This trumpet still looks brand new, still functions brand new, and it's been beaten up by my son for 2 years and 4 months. This is a perfect student horn!

Bought as a gift for a young trumpet player.
I had originally purchased this child a different trumpet from here on Amazon. That one cost $100 but they were not sure that they would even want to play. After the first year of band class they were hooked but the cheaper trumpet was not performing very well.So a trip to a local music store made it clear that we would not be buying locally. I can't see buying a beginner band student a horn for over $1000. Wow. They wanted better than they had but not a super expensive horn to be super worried about.Enter the Jean Paul trumpet. After an exhaustive search on the web it seemed like a truly great option. So I purchased it. It came quickly as promised and is a vastly better trumpet than the first one (a Mendini). The valves are smooth and well made. The slides slide easily in and out. The sound was so much better than the first one.The first trumpet was on sale at $100. This one was more than 3x that price. But it has been used for the last several months it is worth it.I wish I had bought one of these in the first place and not wasted the first money... If you are in a similar boat with a child wanting to play I recommend this one highly. I would have loved a Bach or Yamaha Trumpet but not at 3x the price of this Jean Paul. Is it a Bach Stradivarius Silver Trumpet? No. But then it isn't $4k either so be aware of what it is and how nice it is for a very reasonable price.

Quality student trumpet
I bought this for my son over a year ago to replace a loaner that was in dire need of attention. The trumpet arrived on time and free of defects. It looked impressive when we unpacked it and felt like a quality piece of hardware. The following comments come directly from my son who plays it daily. Pros. The valves move freely, oil doesn't drip out of valves, it has a good sound, and its easy to tune. Cons. The Velcro on the case handle wears out quickly and the handle likes to get caught in zipper. This is a minor inconvenience and in no way hinders it from doing its job of protecting the trumpet during daily trip to and from school. All in all I am satisfied with the purchase and would recommend this instrument to parents looking to provide their beginning to intermediate level child with a quality instrument to play. I believe this trumpet will last him through high school. Disclaimer: I am not a brass instrument player myself. This review is based on my judgment of quality and the positive reviews from my son and those who play with him. The case flaws is what kept it from being a 5 star review. I would buy another one if needed and currently considering a Jean Paul Trombone.

Jean Paul trumpet a good value
Iโve been playing this trumpet for about 5 months now. I have enjoyed the instrumentโit looks and sounds good. The pistons operate well with minimal oiling. Good price, too.The only complaint is that one of the piston buttons fell off when it was two weeks old. I reattached it with super glue and it has stayed on since then.Update:After a year, I still enjoy this instrument. It does have the occasional problem of Chinese instrumentsโif it sits for a couple of weeks, a valve might be stick. But with some oil, itโs good to go.I bought the Jean Paul TR-860 professional trumpet when it first came out. Itโs a more beautiful instrument with better sound and playability. And at just under $700, a good buy. Having said that, I still play the 430 when Iโm on the road. I have recommended the 430 to a Junior High Band Director friend for his students. He is now seeing how the instrument โsurvivesโ in the hands of kids that age.

UPDATE: Incredible Warranty Service
I bought this for my daughter because she wanted to teach herself the trumpet. We were happy to see that it came in a very nice case. I'm not even sure what to look for in a trumpet, but this one is attractive compared to one I've seen in her music class (she plays sax in a small group setting). In only one month, she's belting recognizable tunes. It was all self-taught, so she's very happy with it. The only problem she's had is one of the valves (I think that's what it's called) was stuck. She couldn't open it. I have no idea if she's ever gotten it open, but she wouldn't let me take pliers to it. Not sure if this is a common problem.__________UPDATE 2/15/17: Wow. I initially gave this trumpet four stars, a positive rating. After all, my daughter liked her trumpet. This wasn't good enough for Jean Paul USA. No way. They contacted me immediately after reading my review about the screw that wouldn't turn. Would you believe they sent me a replacement right away *before* ever asking for a return? And they were nice enough to include a shipping label so I could send back the defective one at no cost. Not only that, I learned that they would fix or replace the instrument for any problems during the 1 year warranty period--which, by the way, includes *damage by children*. Double wow.If they had never sent a replacement, I would have been obliviously happy. Now that I realize their level of service and customer care, I am over the moon. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company to any of my friends. What an incredible experience.

First Trumpet for Beginner's Band
I purchased this trumpet for my daughter who is going into her first band program in fifth grade. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a first instrument, but I wanted to have a quality instrument that would help her explore whether this was the musical instrument she wanted to pursue or not. I didn't want her to struggle with a low-quality trumpet. What you get in the box:MouthpieceTrumpet B flat with rose gold tubing coming out of the mouthpiecePolishing clothWhite cotton glovesValve OilCarrying case (with backpack straps)The first time she played the trumpet, she was able to get a great sound out of it, and didn't struggle at all.The trumpet has a spring-loaded trigger (most beginner trumpets won't have this function), as well as a pull-out tuning piece. The instrument is metal, and not plastic (parents: read the descriptions of the $100 trumpets very carefully!).I did have a problem with the carrying case: the spring latch was locked on one side. I contacted the customer service group and received a response within four hours, offering a replacement strap.I am very satisfied with the purchase, and I'm looking forward to that first beginner's band concert!

Great instrument
My husband played trumpet in his HS band - 60 years ago - until he was kicked out for playing "Hold That Tiger". But he always loved the horn. We play music, although in the basement these days, so he wanted to play trumpet to "enhance" our sound. The coronet he bought at a pawn shop just wasn't cutting it anymore. Our drummer & I had begun to hide the horn so he couldn't play.We did our research & Jean Paul horns kept popping up as a good value so he decided this is the horn to make him sound "infinitely better." To my amazement & to our four cats chagrin, it does. He is able to hit notes he could never do with the old, pawn shop horn. This horn has a bright, crisp sound. The valves did stick a bit but could have just been the newness. Customer support was awesome in telling us how to remedy this.Whether you are a beginner, professional or an adult who wants to start playing again, this is a wonderful horn & great value.

Very good product & customer service
Initially received my trumpet with minor scratches. I contacted their customer service in order to know if this was "expected" for a brand new product and they've immediately told me that they would replace the product at no charge. The trumpet works very well and I enjoy the product. The case is very well made and allow for easy storage of the instrument.Their customer service is at another level. They are there for their customer and they are ready to put themselves aside in order to offer the best product satisfaction.I wouldn't hesitate to buy another product from them!

Good intermediate horn
Great horn for the money. Plays easy, sounds sweet. Valve action is a bit tight but should work in. Solid horn.. Ive been playing for 50 years and played some great horns. This is not one of those but it's more than adequate.
