Leomael Naturals Shea Butter Unrefined Raw African Organic Pure Ivory, 32 Ounce

We have typically bought raw shea butter from our local grocery co-op, but we moved further away from that co-op (and it was pricey there). We bought this and it appears to be the same quality/product as what we used to by there. Light in color and with a light, nutty, smell. Very pleased. Also much less expensive than the co-op. Update Dec. 2017. I ordered a second time. It comes double-bagged and is just a big hunk of raw shea butter. Again, very happy with it. I mixed it with coconut, jojoba, and olive oils to make an excellent body butter. I did notice another review disliked it, saying it had some debris in it. For me, it was very, very little, a few specks in the entire 2lb. package once I melted it all down. I used a spoon to fish out the 4-5 specks (think pepper flakes) I saw. It is worth remembering this comes from a tree, with seeds, that grows in the ground...and hasn't been refined. That is what you are buying, something that is as close to this as possible. For this, I found it exceptionally clear and free of debris (moreso than what I bought from co-op).

Hmmmm... I don't know where to start! The reviews are great. But the Shea butter I received smells stale like it's been in a bag of sack clothe and under someone's armpit. Seriously I have never had this kinda bad smell from Shea butter. It didn't look fresh or clean. It had so many green/cyan threads in it. I bought this because it was a reasonable price but can't tolerate the unusual smell from it. Will be buy from those who have proper containers or bags.

I bough this item and the product in 2016 and it went rancid. I've come to learn that pure shea butter does not expire but the fact that this one went bad, it must be mixed with something else and not Pure unrefined raw African shea butter as advertised. DO NOT BUY! I used part of it when i got it and it smelled as it should but after not using for a year or two then went to use it to make lip balm it did not smell as it should and i attempted to use it and it gave me a rash. I've since bought shea butter from other suppliers and they explicitly say that Shea butter does not expire which of course this barely labeled plastic bag of i don't know what definitely did not report anywhere.

I havent used it yet but upon arrival it was melted and had leaked from the box onto my other items. I wish they would take heat into account when shipping during the summer months or reinforce their packaging so that if it does melt it will not get all over everything and so much product isnt lost. It also feel like a lot less than 2 pounds. I will be weighing it after it solidifies and taking into account that some melted. I will be updating later.

I received this on Thursday and whipped it using. A stand mixer and have been using it every since. My entire family uses it especially my 5 yr old who has eczema and I bought it for him. It goes on grate after whipping it and feels nice and silky. I will be using it to make soap and will buy more when needed.

This was pretty good stuff. It was difficult to get out of the inside bag. It would have better if I would have used it all at one time but I didn't need to. It did a few foreign particles but not enough for me to really worry about.

Loved the product. Exactly what I expected. I use this to make my own body cream. Works like a miracle on wrinkles on your body (according to my over 50yo aunt who used this product raw on her hands and feet)

High quality and super easy to work with! I add it to my EO mixes and it makes a great salve for my dry hands! Love it!
