2015 Military Grade XMRE 1300XT Individual Meal (Menu #1 Mexican Style Chicken Stew)

Picked up the beef brisket mre as I am testing a load of camping food for a 1-2 week trip through the desert. Everything about the new mres is great. Flavor seems to be dinty moore beef stew mixed with slow cooked brisket chunks, not at all a bad flavor. This is what I wrote while testing it out:xmre - beef brisket mreoatmeal cookie: tastes like a gingerbread cookie - *****white wheat snack bread: soft ver of hardtack - ****chocolate peanut spread: reeses pieces in liquid form - *****beef brisket w/ gravy: tastes as if dinty moore made beef brisket - ****coffee, creamer, sugar: better than many instant coffees - *****ration heater: works extremely well - *****beverage bag: works well enough for heating coffee - *****salted corn nuggets: not the worst, better than corn nuts - ****tropical punch drink mix: flavor aid with sugar - ******* 1/2That being said, I would definitely order it again. As I will be backpacking most of my food, I figure I can justify the weight of two of them just to have a nice hot meal. The rest of my food will probably end up being freeze dried goods. This is a far cry from the old mres that resembled cardboard or dog food if you were lucky enough to get one with something resembling meat.

I finally tried one of my XMREs that was 5 years old and sitting in the trunk of my car for almost 4 years. I was pleasantly surprised to find the whole thing was in great shape and tasted delicious. The Southwest Style Beef tasted similar to Stagg chili, but the quality of the beef was much better than what you find in Stagg chili. There was more food in the XMRE than I needed and had trouble finishing all of it. I'm not much of a coffee drinker but decided to try to coffee anyway. I could tell the coffee wasn't great, but if you're desperate for coffee or a hot drink, it would probably do the trick.

Awesome, arrived quick with everything perfectly intact! I got hooked to watched MRE taste tests on YouTube and I had to try one for myself. I watched EmmyMadeInJapan do a taste test of the chili and macaroni so that is the what I bought. It was a lot of fun to heat up the food and open everything and mix the drinks. I enjoyed it very much!

I was very happy with my purchase. It arrived early, in great condition and the product still has a good bit of time before it officially expires. The military grade MRE had everything I needed in a self contain meal kit.13 Hightower A gave me the energy to finish my daily tasks. The variety of items found in this kit are good. I would recommend it to anybody who enjoys MRE's.

The food was surprisingly good for an MRE.

yum... not for everyday use, but gosh.. this is awesome to keep a few of these around for a desperate situation and you are hungry...

It arrived fine and was not expired.Taste: To me it taste similar to other MREs I have had. I didn't like the cracker.
