Works well
This worked well in an attic installation. Home is in a low spot in a very hilly area, but within 1 mile of one transmitter, and within 4 miles of many others. However, we also wanted to pull in one particular station from 20 miles in the other direction, and this antenna was able to do that, without any amplification needed. In fact, splitting it to run to two TVs, even with an amplifier, didn't work, because with amplification each leg could get the distant station, but the close stations were blown out by being over-amplified. Without an amp, the close stations were fine on the splitter, but the weaker station disappeared. Because of my inability to amplify just the weak station, I wound up installing TWO of these, one for each TV, and they work great. In short, with a 25 foot run on one and with a 100 foot run on another, this met my needs perfectly. Keep that in mind if you have a similar situation; I was almost wishing I lived 50 miles out of town and all the stations were the same distance away.

5 star antenna
about 60-65 miles from our main city, but no hills in south La so no issues with that. we had to mount outside, could not pick up in attic do to some type of metallic coating on the underside of our roof sheeting, so we mounted it on the facial about 10 feet high (from the ground). on first program attempt picked up 8 channels, adjusted the antenna one way then another a couple of times for best reception, after about 30 minutes of adjusting we picked up an amazing 43 channels from 3 different cities, and all come in exceptionally clear. so, yes you may have to give it a twist or 2, but once it's set, it's a done deal. Great reception, better than I expected from the distance(s) and from 10 feet from ground level. this is a great little antenna with some power too. i'm giving 5 stars, no big deal to set it up even with having to give it a turn or so, the results are well worth it, now saving over $100 per month and actually seeing real high def, for FREE!

Works well when combined with Mohu 60
It works very well. You will need to find the best direction to point by trial and error. I does draw in a lot of channels. I also bought the Mohu 60 mile antenna and used a combiner on the antenna leads (near the TV and dvr) and they worked in a synergistic way.

Worked great and then nothing
This was easily the best antenna I've ever owned when I first installed it. Just stuck it outside about 4' off the ground and grabbed channels from many directions as advertised. This morning I was watching TV and all signals lost. Worked for almost 2 months and now nothing. All I can assume is some of the parts that were exposed to water went bad. The red light is still lit up so I know it's getting power. I replaced this antenna with my old antenna and that one worked okay so I know the problem is with this antenna. It's now unavailable on Amazon. Maybe there's a reason for that.

Great HD Antenna for this Texas Customer
Started assembling 5 minutes after the UPS man delivered. Used a 10ft. PVC pipe to begin a mini-test and only 7 channels. So I put up on the side of the roof (about 20ft high and about 2 oak trees about 12 feet away) -- WOW -- 35 to 41 channels. I was impressed because some internet "free-channel-index" site said I would only receive 32 in this area. I must admit some of the channels are "junk channels", but I can't blame the antenna for that one. I did put in the signal amplifier in FRONT of the Splitter and it seemed to boost the power and number of channels. I have 5 TV's on my splitter and some only receive 10 channels, but I honestly can attribute it to the older cable I am using (that was installed at the time the house was built). I did have to turn the antenna about 20 degrees to get the most channels, but that was a 15 minute exercise. Overall, I am pretty happy with the reception. It rained somewhat hard this morning and the channels were coming in just fine. Oh yes, I tested with a 50ft and a 30ft cable from the roof and in both cases, it was just fine. Bye-Bye Cable for now ...will pay for itself in 1 month! Finally, if the signal is weak, you are likely to lose UHF channels before you lose VHF channels.

LAVA HD-8008 - Great Product!!!
Received about a week after I ordered. This is the second LAVA product (1st was the LAVA 2605 for a camp) we've purchased and I must say we are impressed! I live in central Maine and it's pretty rural. The 2605 installed in an even more remote area (camp) and we are getting 12 channels pretty consistently. I order the HD 8008 as we have cut the cable and I wanted to be able to see local networks (specifically NFL games) installed the HD 8008 on Saturday to the side of my house about 20 feet off the ground, ran the cable and received 15 channels right away! All of the major networks and they come in crystal clear! Would highly recommend! Great product!!!

Great for most (but not all) channels
I had the antenna installed by a professional service, using high quality components to connect to my home (pre-wired for cable in 6 locations). The sets (two digital and 2 with converter boxes) had been using individual indoor antennas. We had trouble with one or two channels on some sets, but those channels came in well on others. After installing this antenna we are unable to bring in the one channel that was spotty... not found by scanning channels on all sets. The FCC website (https://www.fcc.gov/media/engineering/dtvmaps) shows them as having strong signals in my location. Both stations lie along a similar direction, yet we get another station that broadcasts from that direction. Overall, this seems to be a good product but the performance has been disappointing.

Positioning can make a difference
I came back to the lava antenna because of my previous experience, which was better than with a competitors model. The lava antenna has proven to be more reliable. Even though it is an Omni directional antenna, experiment with rotating it to help bring in the desired stations. Your proximity to stations is an important factor. Using it near an urban area will bring in more stations than a more rural setting, in my case roughly 50 channels versus 24.
