Look for more books in the blockbuster Maze Runner series: THE MAZE RUNNER • THE SCORCH TRIALS • THE DEATH CURE • THE KILL ORDER • THE FEVER CODE Review: Would have loved a bit more at the end, but still INCREDIBLE!!! ACTION PACKED AND KEEPS YOU GUESSING!!! 4.5/5!!! - I give this book a 4.5/5. It was my least favorite of TMR series, but it is still an excellent read. All along, we have gone through the series with that thought in our head thanks to Teresa, "Wicked is good." Can this be true??? This book keeps you going back and forth, siding with Wicked, then siding with a group determined to overthrow the group. It is back and forth the whole time, as this book is a true testament to the series, highlight the fact that it isn't a black and white world. Below is a basic synopsis of the book, so potential semi spoilers are present in the following paragraph, but no major ones. The basic premise of the book is Thomas and the Gladers go back to Wicked. Somehow, after some get there memories back, the gladers get separated into two groups and somehow escape Wicked who believe they are almost to the cure that can save the human race. The main question at this point that Thomas needs to answer is is it better to give wicked what they want for the common good now that they are so close, or try to end wicked and start fresh isolated from the flare and let the flare stricken areas die out. This is the main point of this book, which of the two options will be the death cure? Read to find out! Anyway, Tomas and the gladers escape and end up working with a group called the Right Arm, that wants to take down Wicked. With the original gladers gone, wicked begins to round up new subjects to readminister the trials. As time goes on, we begin to see Thomas struggle back and forth between fighting with wicked or against wicked, all leading up to a 75 page ending that is a full on bloodbath/rescue/state of confusion, all in a good way. The ending action is amazing, but I do agree with many that the final 5 pages did not do the series quite the justice it deserved. Even still the lead up was so good, I can easily overlook the few questions I have and the fact that I would have loved to see one more chapter to address the aftermath a bit more than 5 pages. It is still a wonderful book and you cannot put it down! As a series, this is one like no other and I am amazed by the world Dashner created. It is so profound and amazing. I have been so inspired by his works and he has made me a life long fan of his. Like all trilogies, the ending book is not as good as the other two, but this is still the best trilogy I have ever read. I give TMR 4.7/5, Scorch 4.9/5 and TDC 4.5/5. Don't let other reviews make you stop at the scorch. You will have a question or two at the end and wish for more, but the journey is so good it is easy to overlook the ending, and don't get me wrong, the ending is still good and tied it up well, I just wish for a little bit more, perhaps another 10 pages perhaps into the future, if that happened, this would have gotten a 4.8/5 for me. Even still amazing book!!! Review: Sad to see the series end! - The Death Cure... the end to a series that I really enjoyed. And I did enjoy this book, although I am still not sure how I feel about the conclusion!! I have mixed feelings, but I have to wonder if perhaps that is exactly how the author meant us to feel. These books are surrounded with mystery, the kind of mystery that makes you question the powers that be and their authority and control over your life. That's the bigger message. So the series was written in such a way to constantly foster that mystery and I think that too many neat answers might have eliminated that feeling and lessened them overall messages and themes. Part of the mystery is rooted in the fact that no one, including the reader, ever seems to know exactly who they can and can't trust. There are moments that it is even hard to tell what is real and what isn't. These things keep the story interesting, and keep the reader from being able to guess what is going to happen next. The presence of WICKED throughout the series is the source of all mystery. The methods that they use and the things that they do in the name of the greater good are often incomprehensible and horrendous. Their involvement was so mysterious and so convoluted that it just amped up the misdirection and made the answers impossible to guess, which I loved. The ending was satisfying, but I think I expected something different, something more epically conclusive. By the end, the characters, and the reader, are exhausted and full of conflicting emotions. Their stories have been confusing and twisted and the ending leaves them with a sense of hope. And that is something that they have not had for a very long time. My Recommendation: I am sad to see this series end, although I am happy that The Kill Order begins a prequel trilogy. I loved the premise of this story and found it engrossing and unique.

I can see why this series has a huge and faithful fan base
The biggest theme in the third book of this series is trust. Who to trust... Brenda? Theresa? WICKED? Is anything real? I love how this series gets me questioning every single thing I read. I got to the point where I thought, if it's written down, it must be a trick. I had to remind myself that not everything could be a trick, and that some things had to be real. But which things? It was perpetual. Something like I imagine was happening in the minds of the characters. Memories are being returned to the survivors so they can finish the trials and find the cure. Thomas is terrified of what else he might remember. He didn't want to know what he had done before the start of the trials. He already knew that WICKED shouldn't be trusted. Finally, he escapes WICKED with a small band of other munies and they flee to the city of Denver, which has resisted the spread of the Flare. They believe that the other survivors, including Theresa, have also escaped and found their way to the city. In Denver, munies (those immune to the Flare) held jobs that others couldn't do, but they were deeply resented by most of the population who weren't immune. After their arrival, Thomas is approached and offered a lifeline by an underground operation called The Right Arm. It’s an operation that includes a blast from his past, Gally from The Glade. We also learn that Denver is the one place where there is someone who can remove the tracking device that has been implanted into Thomas’s head. Of course, in the meantime, the crazy Ratman can track him, and tries to convince him to return to WICKED and complete the final stage of the trials. Naturally, Thomas resists. As the story unfolds Thomas and his fellow munies join forces with The Right Arm and set plans in place to defeat WICKED once and for all. Then, on February 13, 2015, I was on about page 200, when a post from James Dashner landed in my Facebook feed. It mentioned something about page 250. The post was littered with comments from readers that spilled forth information that I didn't need to know. The timing was dreadful, so I replied to Mr Dashner with my feelings. I got no reply, of course, but at least I got to vent my disapproval. What a spoiler at the worst possible time! WICKED may have started off with the good of the world in its sights. But over time it morphed into something that was just as damaging as the problem it tried to solve. The lesson here is that good intentions aren't a license to do whatever you want. WICKED’s driving ambition had been running blind and it failed to stop and take a sanity check. Janson (Ratman) had lost all sense of right and wrong. But luckily there was a light in the darkness that left a thread of hope for a future. Finally, there was an escape, but not a cure. The world was left to self destruct while the lucky few could start afresh. It was hardly a happy ending, but perhaps the only one that was plausible. In a Nutshell I can see why this series has a huge and faithful fan base, and I'm glad to call myself one of them. Recommended for readers who enjoy action filled with twists, tricks and lies, and relish the uncertainty of not knowing what to believe as they read.

Fantastic Conclusion
When I read a book, it travels with me. Not physically, but in my thoughts afterward. I'll catch myself thinking about the characters, or what's going to happen next if there is going to be another book. Several of my favorite books have concluded, so I was glad that I still had the Maze Runner trilogy to think about. But now it's over. The trilogy contained so many twists and turns, and such amazing moments! I feel as if Dashner did his best to ensure that readers felt like they were one of the Gladers. I found myself feeling massive amounts of mistrust towards people that I've never met! This mistrust was built up over time, but their arguments were still so convincing and...necessary...that I too wanted to give in and believe them. Even after I finished, I felt a lingering feeling of doubt. This book really makes you paranoid and skeptical about everything you're told in it. This, let me tell you, makes for a very wild read. By this point we've been with these characters for a while. Though there are only 2 main characters, I felt as if there were more. I was affected greatly while reading this book when some certain characters died. While one is expected, the other is a huge surprise. I became attached to most of the characters along the way, and after seeing so many die, I found myself grasping on harder. Overall I think that this trilogy was simply amazing. They never lacked in action, mysteries, surprises, or conspiracies. The ending might have been a bit too perfect, but they deserved it after all that they have been through. I would recommend this book along with the two preceding it to anyone who loves dystopian novels or just someone in the mood for a literary adventure. [...]

A wanting conclusion to a great trilogy
"The Death Cure" is the third book in the dystopia trilogy by James Dashner, in which he tried to provide answers to everyone's questions. Tried. Dashner continues with the story of Thomas, isolated in an empty bleak room, not by choice, trying to figure out what just happened, and to understand what is about to happen. He is still fighting the notion that "WICKED is good." How can WICKED be good if their spokesperson is The Rat Man, who makes his appearance yet again in "The Death Cure." The experiments conducted in The Maze and The Scorch were supposed to provide how to cure sickness called The Flare. Thomas is going through significant internal turmoil. How to get even with WICKED and the people who control them? Does he trust Teresa, and therefore trust WICKED, or does he succumb to his hatred for her? Finally, the ultimate yet frustrating realization that without Thomas, there would be no WICKED, there would be no escape from the Maze, there would be no Trials, and none of his friends would have died or been in danger. In this third installment, the groups who participated in the Scorch Trial (The Gladers and Group B), were once again reunited, and were given the option to have their memories restored. Most took the opportunity, a select few did not. Theresa was all for having her memories restored, not surprisingly given her "WICKED is good" stance. Thomas and a few others were hesitant. They needed to find out as much as possible while they were in WICKED headquarters... and Thomas did not want to find out what he knew and his role in the experiments before he entered the Maze. Somehow, they escaped... or did they? The time for lies is over. But is the truth any better? The plot moves well. The action and the tension constantly builds. Lots of twists and turns. Thomas is torn between what he feels is right and what he thinks is real. Trust WICKED, and by default trust Teresa. Don't trust WICKED, and listen to Brenda. A character comes back from the dead. They all go to Denver (They all go to Denver?!). Thomas' character flaws were somewhat emphasized in this novel. He is not the perfect leader who makes all the right decisions. My first criticism is the lack of character development in this book. Of course, most of the characters were well-established in the two previous books. And, it would have been nice to get a bit of back-story in this novel. Not a big deal if you read the three books sequentially and without a significant gap in time, but it's a year between Scorch Trials and Death Cure, and I forgot about many of the previous characters. Also, this book raises as much questions as there are answers. For example, there was no final resolution IMHO that explains or defines Thomas' role in the design and purpose of the experiments. I was a bit disappointed with how Teresa's character (which was quite significant in the two previous books) was somewhat downplayed in this novel. Finally, in the end I felt disappointed and slightly empty-handed with the resolution. It felt too open-ended and rather predictable. I was hoping for a few more chapters. This book is certainly not my favorite of the three, but nevertheless it is a good read, and I recommend it along with the previous two books that make up this trilogy. It reminds me of how I was slightly disappointed with Mockingjay at the end of the Hunger Games trilogy. Some will like it, some won't. Just like Saccharine, I suppose. I would like to congratulate James Dashner on another successful series. I am looking forward to his next project.

The Death Cure- ALERT: Spoilers ahead...
I can't seem to review this book without giving a few major things away, so if you aren't a fan of spoilers you might want to skip this review... I am a disgustingly fast reader, and I read all three of these books within 2 weeks. The first two were intriguing and captivating, but by the start of this third one, I was exhausted. These poor kids are just screwed over and over and never seem to catch a break until they break out themselves, but even then they are tracked and followed by WICKED. I was hoping that by this book these kids would have discovered something useful or that their breakout would have stirred something bigger, but it just seems like the same ol' WICKED routine. Also, the concept of this last book seemed a little far fetched, with WICKED needing to kill of Thomas in order to succeed.. I guess I just felt like the science fiction began to wobble in this third book because there was no possible cure for the Flare. Any way, I still enjoyed this book but I was happy it was over and slightly disappointed with the way it ended even though the ending was super exciting. I guess I could see this book having a lot of different avenues it could take, and it took the same avenue as the last two.. I was hoping for some curve ball events. I also am attempting to read the prequel: The Kill Order and I just can't do it. I'm getting sick of cranks and story lines that are too similar. SPOILERS OVER- BUT I STILL LIKED THE SERIES. If your young teenagers have nightmares, don't let them read this before bed, and keep an eye on their mood when reading because this series does have the potential to affect young readers who get too deep into the story. Reviews are important and I read them myself too, but this is a personal evaluation- if you're interested take a chance and see how you like it!

"Kill me. If you've ever been my friend, kill me." - James Dashner
Well done, Mr. Dashner, well done. So how do you end a unique sci-fi, post-apocalyptic dystopian series that is nonstop action, unrelenting danger?... a true adrenaline rush to the very end? Well, with a BANG of course and rightfully so. As the first two books of this thrilling trilogy kept readers on the edge of their seats expect no less from this final installment. In this third and last book THE DEATH CURE, Thomas and his remaining friends find that even though they fought their way out of The MAZE and survived The SCORCH TRIALS, WICKED isn't quite done with them. Now as some alliances may have been swayed, they must decide who can sill be trusted and what is the truth as it's finally time to make a choice... is WICKED really good? Within the twist and turns of this ever forward moving plot, unforeseen heroes will arise, ghost of the past will return, friendships will be tested and some betrayed, but most shockingly, the lives of some beloved characters will come to a devastating end. Dashner doesn't hold back as he skillfully grants the many answers the series readers so desperately need, while keeping the adventure and suspense that fans have come to expect from this fast paced and exciting series. I absolutely loved this last book. THE DEATH CURE is brilliantly finished, providing the reader closer at an intensity that did the series justice. The MAZE RUNNER trilogy has proved to be an adventure fit for all ages and a true page turner to the very end.

Morgan's Book Bingo #2
When Groups A and B escape the Scorch, the Berg they end up on has no pilot, no crew, and no weapons, they are forced to forage for supplies before they crash. Thomas asks Brenda if she thinks anyone can fly the ship, and she tells him how Jorge can fly, he's a pilot! He asks her if Jorge was willing to fly, and she tells him to ask. Tom does what she says, and Jorge abilges. In the cockpit, Thomas, Newt, Minho, Brenda, and Jorge create a plan on what to do. They decide to go straight to WICKED, because that location was hardwired onto the ship's GPS. Once there, they find a way in, and head towards the weapons closet. They gave poles and spears, and one pistol just in case guards are right around the corner. For some reason, there aren’t any. Before they leave the landing pit, Jorge and Brenda split the group in two, boys and Brenda go for the weapons, Jorge and the girls guard the Bergs. When they get to the weapons shed, Minho, Thomas, Frypan, and Brenda collect boxes of weapons and ammo, while Newt, obviously infected, mills about, but then all of a sudden, needs to go get something. He comes back with a sealed envelope, and tells Tommy no to give it to anyone, and to open it when the time was right. By then, they start to head back down, arms/ electric grenade launchers full with ammo. By the time they get down there, something else has gone wrong. The girls stole one of the Bergs, along with giving Jorge a concussion. They hang out in the remaining cargo ship until Jorge felt better enough to fly. Jorge decides to bring them to Denver, one of the only places left on the sun-scorched Earth that is disease free (not really), and security overloaded. Once they are approved immune, Jorge, Brenda, Minho, and Thomas head into town and stop at a cafè to get lunch. A man was found on the Bliss, a drug that’s for the infected that slows you down and clears your mind. A large crew comes in and evacuates the room, but captures little group of immunes and brings them to an underground concrete room, where they find the rest of the Gladers, groups A and B, trapped there as well. Once they escape, both groups, minus Newt, who was taken away to the Crank-Land, were put in a large van and brought to the airport. SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! On the way, they found Newt, and Thomas remembered what the letter wanted. He told the driver to pull over for a minute, because he had to do something. By then, Newt had noticed them and was making a slow approach. Thomas got out and Newt told him to kill him. Thomas raised his gun but couldn’t shoot. He had to get tackled by Newt, and the ex-leader had to hold the gun to his head for Thomas to do anything. Finally, after a lot of screaming, Thomas closed his eyes, counted to three, and shot. Once they got to their destination, they flew back to WICKED. There, Rat Man gave everyone their memories back, if they wanted them. Only Minho and Thomas refused. When the rest were given their memories back, a group called the Red Flag decided to blow up WICKED, and in the big escape, something worse than Newt’s death happened. SPOILER ALERT AGAIN!!! SPOILER ALERT AGAIN!!! Right as they were running to the flat trans, Teresa tripped, and fell behind the others. Just then, as she started to run again, a loud BOOM erupted. As she started to scream and run faster, a bulbous chunk of concrete fell from the ceiling, crushing her lungs. She was still alive, and Thomas wanted to help, but there wasn’t enough time. Everyone was out now, other than four, Thomas, Minho, Brenda, and a dying Teresa. Minho jumped through, then Brenda, and Thomas hesitated, but went eventually, after a last goodbye, he went. They are in a large warehouse after they go through the Flat Trans, and Brenda shuts it down, everyone leaves, and she burns the building to the ground, “Just in case.”

even though some things are hard to take, I loved the book
there is a lot of confusion again.. and again it's unclear who is on whose side and whom can be trusted, but again, I could not put it aside until I was done reading and the end gave me a satisfying smile on my face, despite of all the tragic losses. It definitely is different from The Hunger Games, which for the moment will stay my number one dystopian teen series, but its end is much more than what I had hoped for the Divergent series.. I have not read the Kill Order yet, as I feel I have learnt enough about the world in those three books. For those English learners: all three books are an easy read even if you are not sufficient in English, I'll test the books on my pupils some time.. :)
