Minecraft - Volume Alpha is the work of German composer and musician Daniel Rosenfeld. Using C418 as his moniker, Rosenfeld crafted the sweeping soundtrack and vibrant sound design which helped breathe life into Minecraft's voxel-based universe. Fans and critics were universally enamored with his beatless, nuanced electronic pieces upon release. Popular gaming site Kotaku named it among The Best Game Music of 2011, calling the music "remarkably soothing," and The Guardian has compared Rosenfeld's delicate piano and sparse ambient motifs to legendary artists Erik Satie and Brian Eno. In an interview feature with C418, Polygon distilled Volume Alpha to its essence: "It's not bound by the retro aesthetic of Minecraft's graphics. It transcends them. The album is an attempt to uplift the combined game/music experience into the sublime."

Great on vinyl
First off, just one negative: it doesn’t have all the tracks. Going off of memory it doesn’t have the first two tracks - Key and Door - from the full digital album. Now the positives: As a teenager who played Minecraft on the Xbox 360 this is a dream come true. I don’t play the game a lot anymore but this is a nostalgic overload. I have the digital album but having it on vinyl is a lovely physical treat to have. That warm vinyl tint to the sound adds to the warm memories of playing this as a teenager. It helps it sounds so lovely on vinyl so the mastering and cutting was done right. The translucent green is beautiful and looks great on my turntable. It’s not too see-through so the green still pops out.Overall, if you were, are, or have someone who is a big Minecraft fan then this is a great thing to give. Whether it’s a treat, a present, or an impulse buy it’s great. 10/10 would HIGHLY recommend.

Beautiful
I intend to listen to this record every night to go to bed. I already listened to it all the way through both sides a few times and the music choices couldn't have been better. I think the green translucent color is a nice touch too. I also like that side A and side B have different pictures to differentiate which side it is easier.

The perfect background music for anywhere.
This has all of my favorite Minecraft songs on it. This has quickly become the background music to my life. It is relaxing and calming and beautiful in a way that doesn’t make sense considering it’s the music to a block game. Even if you don’t play Minecraft this music with no vocals is great to have on in the background. I recommend this to everyone who enjoys calm beautiful music and or Minecraft. easter egg for Minecraft players the cd looks like the ones from the game.
