Quality traditional Japanese mattress
The futon is lightweight, easy to fold and store, and amazingly comfortable. The pillow is thin but comfortable and the comforter is very thick which can get pretty warm if you run hot. I have a tatami mat laid out on the floor under the mattress. I recommend finding a cotton cover for the mattress and comforter. My previous mattress was rock hard because I had back problems and couldn't sleep on anything softer. I decided to get a traditional Japanese mattress because I had heard they work well for back pain and I wanted something I could also have guests sleep on as a backup if they come over. I've had it for a month now and my back feels better than ever.

Only Purchase If You Need Extreme Firmness
Please only purchase this mattress if you know you need an extremely firm mattress. Once opened it cannot be returned. I’ve spent the last 8 years or so sleeping on pillow top or foam top mattresses. I thought I would try this out since it is traditionally crafted and would be easy to transport during a move. I was disappointed by how firm it was. It’s no joke. It’s truly like sleeping on the floor with minimal cushioning. For reference I am 5’0ft tall and 105 pounds. I have a larger buttock so when lying on my back it is so uncomfortable since there is no cushion to make up for the gap between your back and buttocks. This is better suited for someone who does not have a large buttock. Side sleeping is painful as well as stomach sleeping. I slept on it once days ago and my body still hurts. I appreciate the craftsmanship and the quick response from the seller. However think twice before purchasing. This is only for true firm mattress sleepers.
