As always with O'Reillys books,I learn things I had never heard or taught. Easy and enjoyable to read. I have read all his books.

Personally, I think Bill O'Reilly is a total a-hole and I would never read his books -- not even under threat of death! However, my Dad digs this guy's books (for whatever reason), and I love my Dad, so... The transaction was perfect, just not a fan of the author.

At first I thought this book was going to be very different than all the others but soon discovered that once again that much of the writing is just another rehash of books from long ago. For example, much of the information about Billy The Kid, in this book of Bill O'Reilly's can be found in the publication: "The Authentic Life of Billy the Kid" (1882, republished 1954 The information about Billy The Kid is almost word-for-word and can be found right here at: http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/billythekid.htm Is there anything new in this book by Bill O'Reilly? Not much as a great deal of it can be found elsewhere in many other publications, as well as on the Internet. It would have been nice if O'Reilly had given credit as to where he got hi information for this book. If I have missed that, I apologize, but could not find any credit anywhere in his book. Is it a good book? Yes, it's an interesting read, and quite entertaining. Would I buy another of Bill O'Reilly's books of this type? No, not when I can get the information about all his books elsewhere, free.

Bought this book for my husband and he really enjoyed the stories behind these real life people and how life was back in these times.
