The Thermacell mosquito repellent effectively reduces the number of mosquitos in the area. You start it up a little while before the mosquitos will be out (in my area it's at dusk), and there are noticeably fewer mosquitos. It works best when it's not windy, so the repellent can build up rather than just blowing away. There is no scent, unlike citronella candles or spray-on repellent; and your not spraying anything directly on your skin or clothes. Hopefully it's fairly safe to breathe. ;) The 3-pack of 40-hour refills really lasts a long time, as we only use it for a few hours in the evenings if we're going to be outside. The caps can be put back on after use to minimize evaporation when not in use.

This proved to work well in my back yard and garden that has plenty of mosquitoes. It is easy to use and has no odor or unpleasant effects. It is virtually undetectable and is a small compact design you can place anywhere. Yet it worked well for the entire half day we were outside entertaining. The refills are such an easy and convenient way to reuse the thermacell units. I will definitely be buying more of this in the future. They kept the mosquitoes away. I’m not sure how it works but it did work well.

We live at the edge of town near dairy farms and mosquitoes have always prevented us from enjoy our backyard. We have tried countless products, most have strong chemical smells and don’t last very long. The Thermacell mosquito repellent is a small power tool that has allowed us to enjoy more time outside without pesky bugs. All you have to do is charge the device and turn it on. Almost immediately you will see the mosquitoes diminish around the area. The cartridge lasts up to 40hrs each as long as you remember to turn off the device. Refilling is as simple as removing the cap and snapping it into the repelling device. The device emits no smell or sound which is great. Would definitely recommend to anyone struggling to enjoy the outdoors due to pesky mosquitoes.

Its not foolproof but it does notably decrease the number of mosquitoes and subsequent mosquito bites. It does last a while so one refill usually lasts a few weeks using it a few hours a day in the evenings. Just remember to cap it off between uses to reduce evaporation. Its nice to be able to sit outside without having to spray myself down with DEET and potentially ruin my clothes. With mosquito spray I would get zero bites, but they would still hover around me. With the Thermacell, I get about 2-3 bites but really no mosquitoes flying around and no DEET on my clothes, so that's the compromise I'm taking.

These refills are great but very expensive consumables.

This misquotes repplent did absolutely nothing—mosquitoes were still everywhere. No noticeable effect at all. I regret buying it and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
