They are VERY sturdy. So sturdy in fact that I was careless with it (since I was used to flimsy spatulas) and it made a small nick a in my cast iron pan's seasoning (which was quickly repaired, of course). It feels heavy and comfortable in the hand, and it works beautifully to make smash burgers (in fact, I bought precisely for that purpose). So, all in all, 100% recommended, and it works perfect as a smasher spatula.
