So just to be clear, the ratchet is a 3/8 drive but theres only 6 sockets with a 3/8 drive, the rest are 1/4, which you need to use the adapter for?

Yes. Adapter drops drive from 3/8 to 1/4. Adapter is for all but the six 3/8 drive sockets. The quality seems good.

Does the extention work for all the sockets ?

Yes it works, the only thing that doesn't work is the box where you put all the sockets they don't stay in place and it is not numbered.
