Review of Samsung 980 NVME
The Samsung 980 NVMe SSD is a popular solid-state drive that has received positive feedback from many users. According to a review by Tom’s Hardware, the Samsung 980 is an inexpensive M.2 SSD that lacks DRAM, but it packs the company’s fastest flash yet. It has been praised for its competitive performance, large and fast-recovering dynamic SLC cache, attractive design, AES 256-bit hardware encryption, software package, and 980 Pro-like endurance and 5-year warranty. However, it has been noted that the write speeds slow down after the SLC cache fills up. The Samsung 980 is powered by the company’s V6 V-NAND and an efficient DRAMless controller that first debuted in the Portable SSD T7 Touch. This mix of hardware promises fast PCIe Gen3 performance and respectable endurance ratings. Overall, the Samsung 980 NVMe SSD is a reliable and high-quality solid-state drive that can help improve your computer’s performance. If you are looking for a solid PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD that offers excellent performance and affordability, then the Samsung 980 is definitely worth considering.

Amazing
The Samsung 980 500GB PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD is a great upgrade if you want faster storage without spending a ton. It’s super quick, with read speeds up to 3500 MB/s and write speeds up to 3000 MB/s, so everything from booting up your PC to loading games feels insanely smooth. Installing it was easy, and Samsung’s Magician software is handy for keeping it optimized. Even though it doesn’t have DRAM, the Host Memory Buffer (HMB) does a great job keeping things fast in real-world use. For the price, it’s reliable, fast, and a solid pick for anyone wanting a performance boost without going overboard.

Amazing Speeds and Price for the Performance
Firstly the 1TB capacity of the Samsung 980 provides ample space to store your operating system, programs, games, and files. It strikes a balance between affordability and storage capacity, making it a practical choice for most users. Whether you're a gamer, content creator, or simply someone who demands high-speed storage, the Samsung 980 meets your needs without breaking the bank. Installing the Samsung 980 is a breeze, thanks to its M.2 form factor and NVMe interface. However, it would have been convenient if the package included the M.2 screw required for installation. Despite this minor inconvenience, the Samsung 980 remains an accessible option for users of all experience levels. In my opinion, the Samsung 980 is a reliable and high-performing SSD that offers impressive speeds and a generous 1TB capacity. Its easy installation process, coupled with its affordable price point, makes it an attractive choice for those looking to upgrade their storage without compromising on performance.

Good value workhorse SSD
I ordered this with the advice that it was on a 3 day turnaround for delivery and most surprisingly it turned up the following morning. I purchased it to replace my old 1Tb mechanical OS drive. As the original drive had a Windows 10 installation that weighs in at 265Gb with various apps and wotnot, and was taking upwards of 2 minutes to boot, I wanted something that would give me room for expansion and faster loading times. My motherboard is a slightly older model that supports M.2 nve drives and it took a bit of fiddling to work out which slot the drive was supposed to be fitted in but after about an hour and half of messing about and playing with the BIOS settings, I had it installed, and was already using the Samsung Magician software to update the firmware and install the drivers for the SSD and start the migration process. Moving the OS to the new drive was a piece of cake. Once finished I just changed the boot order and restarted from the new SSD. Boot times were infinitely better than the mechanical HDD; around 25 seconds (to be expected) and this far I am more than satisfied with the performance. It's possible to tweak the performance further via the Samsung Magician software but you do so at the expense of storage space (cautious estimates are around 10% space loss). Whilst I'm knowledgeable about such things, I'm not going to put things like read write speeds and all the other IT mumbo jumbo that bamboozles the common man and gets the geeks hard. Suffice to say, this is a good, affordable drive packed with a decent warranty, easy to fit and transfer data from a big name manufacturer.

Rejuvenated an aging set of hard drives
As I found myself glaring through endless pages of hard drives for my gaming PC, I realised it wasn't going to be easy to decide. Sure, I knew that I wanted something fast to replace my aging SSD's, but I never thought I would come across something so fast. I decided to have a look at the Black Friday sales and saw this gem going for £71.99. This price is phenomenal. I waited and once I got it, I cloned my C: drive to this new NVMe drive, removed the old drive and voila, once my computer started within less than 15 seconds it was straight into my desktop ready to go! I decided to test it out before moving large files and the speeds were out of this world. I knew once I filled the drive with games and files it would slow down a bit, but having filled it up to 83% I can safely say the speeds are still absolutely phenomenal. It really makes my bog standard Samsung SSD (SATA version) look extremely poor in comparison. I am so happy with this drive so far that I have decided to order another one for my remaining NVMe slot. Astounding. Just for reference, I have a system with a i9 10900K CPU, RTX 3080, 32GB DDR4 3200mhz RAM and am using Windows 11. If you look at the photos I have posted with this review, one of the drives is my old SATA SSD, whilst the much faster drive is the Samsung 980 NVMe SSD drive at 83% filled.

A Great Choice for Gamers and Professionals
I have been using the Samsung 980 1 TB PCIe 3.0 NVMe Solid State Drive for about six months now, and I am very impressed with it. I upgraded to the 980 from a traditional hard drive, and the difference in speed is incredible. My computer boots up in seconds now, and applications load almost instantly. I am also very happy with the reliability of the 980. I have not had any problems with it since I installed it. I use my computer for a variety of tasks, including gaming, video editing, and programming, and the 980 has been able to handle everything I throw at it. Overall, I highly recommend the Samsung 980 1 TB PCIe 3.0 NVMe Solid State Drive to anyone looking for a fast and reliable SSD. It is a great value for the price, and it has made my computer so much more enjoyable to use.

Best Quality SSD
First time it take only 10-15sec to boot. I was surprised that it just take very less time, when i clone my old ssd with new 980 1tb. Performance is good enough… 2300mbps write and read speed on standard mode(Samsung magician app). I was not tested on performance mode. Free space 931gb out of 1000gb(1TB). I face no heating issue. 38-45 Celsius on December. 980 doesn’t have dram but 980 plus have..

Still using it!
Used it for a few years now, strong, high speed storage. I bought a 2TB for in my laptop now, and use this drive in a portable enclosure. Be aware that you always need an external backup with ssd drives, since they loose their content when malfunctioning. However, this is prone to all ssd drives and hardly happens.

Very nice SSD found at a great discount!!
I’ve had always used Samsung SSDs on all my laptops and PCs since always due to its reliability, performance and speed. Was looking to upgrade the original 128GB SSD on my Dell XPS 9350 and found this SSD at a great discount. The original SSD gave only a read/write speed of 450/138 MB/s. Once I upgraded to the 980 it hiked to 1700 MB/s read and 1200MB/s write. Which is big boost and quite noticeable. Though this less than advertised I believe it’s due to my systems limitations. Since all my other Samsung SSDs like 970 EVO, 980 Pro etc run at their full rated speeds. Overall a highly recommended SSD!!
