Does this guy even like the band?
Painful to read, this analysis of the legendary hard rock band UFO is a strange one. The author is clearly a fan and knows the albums, yet he trashes many of the albums and tries to use some fancy-pants musical terms. What in the world is a “solo resonator?” And he mentions “tonic chords” several times. I know what that means, but few casual music listeners would. He is brutal to a point of insulting, regarding the admittedly poor early albums before the band found their voice, but it is unpleasant to read. The author is also obsessed with criticizing backing vocals and also endlessly describes song structure as verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/solo/chorus which is repetitive and makes for poor reading. Some of the albums he destroys are among my favorites, such as Mechanix.Everyone has opinions of course, but the book is so negative, and sarcastic with unfunny comments, that I stopped reading once it hit the mid-1980s. He sounds like an angry, frustrated guitar teacher.Avoid.

UFO Book
One mans opinion on a 50 year career. A waste of money.

Not sure if the author is a UFO fan.
According to the author the first 2 UFO albums are garbage. If you agree with this point of view then you might enjoy this book. I was already put off by this but then he gives Mechanix a hard time! I didn't get any further and stopped reading. Apparently The Visitor also gets a pasting. I found the song by song reviews a little tedious after a while. It seems that the definitive UFO book is yet to be written. Martin Popoff comes close but does have a bizarre writing style as he goes off on some strange tangents. This book, overall, is one to avoid.
