Some things you just have to buy OEM for, and this is one of them. It was maybe $2 more than the next least expensive third party version, and a guaranteed fit. I loved my LG fridge (had it for 12 years) and the only thing we ever had to replace was this and the actual ice maker. After almost a decade of crushed ice, the plastic inside broke and it made getting anything but full ice cubes out difficult at best. This fixed that, literally immediately. The beauty of this is that it's all one piece and all I had to do was pull out the old ice bucket, dump the ice into this one (after washing it, of course), and put this ice bucket in. Done. Perfect fit, not issues or hassle. It's OEM, and worked exactly like day one. If you need it, get the original, it makes such a difference and lasts so much longer than the third party stuff.

This is just the bottom part of the system, meaning that it catches the ice and dispenses it. The icemaker is a separate unit. This item is a perfect fit and was overall a perfect replacement for our old one. Due to some hard use from the previous owner, the original bucket unit was damaged. The white plastic inside was broken, probably from something that got caught in the dispenser/crusher. Metal dispenser/crusher plus plastic housing = easily damaged. That's a bad design, and there's no choice but to replace with what's available, meaning a new part using the same bad design. The clear plastic paddle had also recently broken on our previous unit. So, we desperately needed this replacement bucket. No issues with it so far (a couple months/parties/holidays in).

This unit was the exact duplicate of the broken one. Fits perfect!

Replacement for a part that was malfunctioning, however, now the icemaker will not dispense the ice and LG discontinued parts on my 10 year old (expensive) refrigerator, so we cannot get that fixed at all. I think a refrigerator costing well over $ 2,000 10 years ago should last longer. Since the rest of the system works fine, we have to dispense ice manually, which is a pain. As an aside, my LG range is a replacement for a "lemon" that had multiple repairs and was replaced under the retail sellers extended warranty. Since the two LG appliances I've owned have failed in some way earlier than one would expect, I will not consider any LG appliance when shopping for replacements. I do not give manufacturers a second chance: if they produce products that fail early, they are permanently off my list.
