Coghlan's 9360 deluxe head net

Works
This net works well at keeping bugs (black flies in my case) off your head and neck, but the hat part on top slides around and the green mesh is difficult to see through---especially in low light. I removed the hat and upper wire ring and I use it over a jungle explorer type pith helmet.I also ran the pull strings (that tighten the bottom of the net around your shirt collar) through a short hollow piece of cane to keep the strings tight without having to tie and untie it every time. One other obvious thing you might not think of: you cannot wipe a runny nose or eat or drink with this on. A sneeze can't be "caught on your sleeve or handkerchief either.

Poor design, buy the other one by this company.
I bought this and a different style of head cover from the same company at the same time. The other one, which is basically a sack that fits over a baseball cap is awesome. This one has a disc on top with a wire hoop to hold it out, sounded good in theory, but the hoop slides around on my head, falling into my field of vision (safety hazard as I walked into several low hanging branches) and slides back leaving my neck exposed (got lots of bites on the front of my neck). Pass on this and buy the other style.

Mutant bugs hate it, I love it
I get my jollies making faces at the mutant bugs down here in South Carolina. The Headnet looks stupid and no doubt the rebel scum laugh at me whenever I wear it, but it works. You need a ball cap to keep the thing in place while you work, but the elastic bands underneath the netting does a good job keeping the bill straight. It has a tendency to fall off to the side, but who cares. The swarms of gnats can't get to me which makes my time doing manual labor outside once a year of so a pleasure.

Works to prevent bugs biting but isn't convenient
Wearing this hat/net over my head did prevent flying insects from bothering me. But, the 'hat' part doesn't fit right, either directly on my head or on a ball cap on my head. So, the head net is always shifting. The design is inadequate for the task. But, I haven't found anything better and this does allow me to work in the garden, albeit having to adjust the positioning of the head net continuously.

Can be a lifesaver in emergencies.
This is very good for emergency use as it folds to pocket size. You will probably want to add something to keep it centered on your head, such as gluing on a button magnet to stick to the steel button that most caps have. Or put a thumbtack thru a cap from the bottom to stick into the top of the net. This could be used for a prepper's EDC or a BOB. Protection from insects can be a lifesaver.
